Re: Jim Brown Passes at Age 87
Didn't he try to come back and play at around age 50? No, but in the early 1980s, when Brown was in his late 40s, there were rumors that he might stage a comeback. He never returned, though. The NFL was dealing with fallout from the 1982 players’ strike, which wiped out nearly half the regular seas...

That’s good. I hope it works out.
Winnipeg has an interesting ownership/management model. Unlike most North American professional sports franchises, it’s not privately owned. It’s a not-for-profit with a board of directors.

Not a huge crowd at DBAP today, but of the fans who are here, a good percentage seem to be App State fans.
Moronta just doubled to lead off the fourth. It’s still 2-0 Duke.

Re: Crowds
When I was a student (1987-1991), it was better than what Rekdiver experienced years earlier, but it was still a far cry from what we see today. It really is exciting to see how much energy now exists. Anyone know what average student attendance was at home games in the late ‘80s, right when we bega...

Like bcoach, I’d be curious to know the source. I live in Wake County, but I’ve heard nothing. Why would State cancel right after scheduling a home-and-home?

Re: Marshall fans already poking the bear
I’m still bothered by Marshall’s win in the 1987 I-AA semifinal, especially after App State’s win in the regular season that year and perfect SoCon record. That ‘87 team could have won it all.

I hadn’t heard about Cam Hayes heading to Baton Rouge.
This is a bit off topic, but is anything known about our 2022-23 non-conference men’s basketball schedule?

Re: Student fees and cost of App
Saying that “it’s all part of the package” is refuting the very point that appdaze is making in the original post. If I’m not mistaken, the examples listed in the last post or two are services typically reserved for current students. In cases like that, I wholeheartedly agree that “it’s all part of ...

Re: Student fees and cost of App
I agree with some of the sentiments that have been expressed. Yes, higher education is getting more expensive. Yes, the General Assembly needs to provide more support. Yes, Appalachian State is still an excellent value. It's ironic, though, to see collegiate sports fans (which I assume we all are) c...

Re: Men Basketball in the post-season for 2022
One hundred teams make the NCAA and NIT. Another 16 make the CBI. The CBI field has already been announced. Getting 32 additional teams to play in a new tournament seems ambitious. I don’t mean to sound alarmist, but are we sure this new tournament to which we’ve committed is legit? It wouldn’t surp...

Wake Forest Needs a Gator Bowl Opponent
Texas A&M has pulled out of the Gator Bowl on Dec. 31. Wake Forest is looking for someone to play. Who's up for one more game?

What I saw tonite I have been seeing for a year and a half: I hate to say it but this team and last years team resemble our FCS teams. I’m afraid Clark, coming from the Jerry Moore coaching tree, coaches very similar. Lest we forget , it took coach Moore 15 years to find a Natty and some incredibly...

Re: Enrollment
The best thing that the university can do to help Boone traffic is to add an 5th new dorm building where Gardner/Coltrane are/were. The replacement project only adds 500 new beds. The dorm construction/number of on campus beds over the last 30 years has not kept up with student population growth. T...

I, too, enjoyed my time in East. Lived there for two years in the late '80s while in the Watauga College program.
