We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

Feels more and more like this will be my last season caring about any of these so-called college athletics. I’ll just watch high school on Fridays and the Panthers on Sunday. At least in the NFL, every team has the same cap. Such a shame, and all because kids who got a free education were supposedly...

Re: 2025 Softball Mega Thread

I watched a lot of softball last weekend, always loved it. I was able to watch Taryn Mowatt pitch for Arizona back in the day, what a change up that girl had! Anyway, I heard NIL mentioned a few times, definitely quite a few transfers are happening. I’m sure bigger schools are paying for players. In...

Re: 2025 Football Schedule updates

I’m told that a handful of Yosef Club season ticket holders have checked out due to the “pay for play” situation. I’m hanging in perhaps being hopeful that a meaningful resolution can be reached. That’s now , subject to change of course. I'm in the same boat. I've got my season tickets renewed, but...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

So, this is related to the NIL mess. I have always enjoyed watching college softball, but haven’t watched too much lately. I decided this weekend to watch a few games including App and some nationally ranked teams. There wasn’t a single mention of NIL, the portal, transfers, etc. They did talk about...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

I am not really sure what the big deal is. Your school is your school. Things may change, but it is still your school. The changes are for everyone not just Appalachian. So, if everyone has to play by the same rules the system is fair. I would say that the system is fairer now than it has ever been...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

Looking for eligibility time limits to go away. So basically trying to become the USFL in that they want to become the NFL lite. SMH. Yep, as soon as they start sharing revenue they would in their become employees. This means they can't be discriminated against due to age or anything of the sort. T...

After over 40 years of Yosef donations and season tickets my wife and I have decided to no longer contribute or buy season tickets. Don’t believe in the new system and not going to support something we don’t believe in.
I imagine you won’t be last to move on.

Sad days for college athletics.

Los Angeles is the perfect place for him.

As for Joey, guess he likely finishes his career watching from the sideline.

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL

The more that comes out from coaches and administrators I'm starting to think college is going to look like some hybrid of pro baseball and pro soccer in terms of league salary caps, transfers, buyouts etc. The g5 would truly be a minor league for the p3. Buy outs would go down depending on how man...

Re: Spring Game Weather

Weather shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that has lived in Boone for any amount of time. During my time at App (88-93) I saw it snow in every month except June and July, so sleet in April doesn't surprise me. I saw it snow 3 feet deep twice in April during my Freshman year in 87. I can still remem...

I was planning on making the trip, until I saw that forecast. Plus, I’m still recovering from being sick recently.

Hope it goes well, but the weather won’t help.

Re: SoCon basketball championship

See above , Greg Dennis 6”11 , quick and could shoot from anywhere So many fond memories of those years. I also remember a big win in Varsity over UNCC and Jeff Mullins. We called ourselves Apke’s Animals, even called Apke to get his support, he was a pretty cool guy. There was an App cheerleader n...

And I remember one in their lineup. Mister.
Yep! Mister Jennings I believe.

Also, had a good center, Greg something I think.

Re: UNCC Mayo Kickoff game now Friday

Yup, I noped right on out when I saw there was no option to select seats and the additional disclaimer that the ticket office could make contact with seat relocations based on demand and giving level. Clown level stuff. Props to Charlotte for doing it right. I called the Yosef Club about this last ...

Re: SoCon basketball championship

I’m sure I rang up over twenty consecutive SoCon tournaments and many more here and there. Asheville was the best. Packed crowds and a lot of atmosphere. We made some runs there but never made it across the line. Roanoke and our first championship is still my favorite. Winning in Greenville was a g...

Re: ACC

I would love seeing the ACC survive with us in the conference.

I know it’s unlikely, but I’ve always felt the ACC is our best chance of P4.
