Re: Changes to Campus Entrance

I'm looking forward to seeing the final product later this summer. While it's unfortunate that the National Championships plaque is being removed, I'm okay with it with us having taken a step up in the competitive landscape now. Excited to see this new Founders Plaza!

AppalCART route changes and their impact on campus

The High Country's AppalCART has proposed some pretty major route changes to their service lines around Boone and Blowing Rock. There are a number of interesting tidbits in this article, but a few that should be noted are as follows: 1. State Farm Lot will no longer serve as the parking lot designat...

Re: New campus housing project moving forward

I know that our main concern is tailgating and how this will impact football season, but if we take off our football-tinted sunglasses, I think we'll all recognize that this is great for the future of our university. One thing that we struggle with at times is recruiting students when our facilities...

Re: New campus housing project moving forward

So no parking on west campus for students or tailgating for a few years? My assumption would be that they construct the residence halls in Duck Pond first, and then tear down either Gardner/Coltrane or Bowie/Eggers to begin construction on parking spaces before they start tearing into Stadium Lot i...

New campus housing project moving forward

University Housing is moving forward with a new housing project that will change the landscape of West Side and Stadium Lot, vastly impacting App State football and tailgating. In the new plan, Stadium lot will cease to exist as we know it, with much of the parking moving into a massive on-site park...

Re: And so it begins....

My guess would be that they won't start tearing up the track until later in the Summer. While I don't think this will be a minor undertaking, I don't think it'll be exactly major, either. If you all remember correctly, they didn't get their hands really dirty with putting up the new video board till...

Re: App Band Director Bails

I would say that I'm upset, but I hadn't heard the best things about him, so having fresh blood in North Carolina's Band of Distinction isn't a bad thing. I hope the next band director can be a little more inventive with the band and really make a lasting impact on how the band operates within App S...

This rendering is old and not correct. Architect is CJMW. They were the previous architect who did the first concepts that my company was involved in. The builder will be picked from CM style!
When will we be able to see the updated/new rendering?

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property

I personally think they should use that property in a mixed-use capacity. While I'm all for athletics, the academic and administrative buildings on campus are deteriorating and could use some replacements, too. I'd love to see the track moved out there, as well as maybe one or two other athletic fac...

I'm not watching tonight. I'm not a fan of either program (not even a casual fan) and don't care to see the P5 continue to be rewarded for their greed and cheating ways.

High Country Souvenirs' shirts do have the score on them, but they don't have the opponent.

Re: MOUNTAIN MEN vs. MINUTEMEN!!!!!

Good teams find a way to win, which is what we've been doing these past few weeks. I'm just not sure how in some scenarios. We do not look good out there. I have total faith in the team and the coaches, but it doesn't look like we came prepared for this one. Careless mistakes, bad calls, and key inj...

Re: Dangerously over capacity

There were at least hundreds of fans (including myself) who remained in their seats for 15 to 20 minutes after the game, just because there was no organization to leaving the stadium and it resulted in bottlenecks at every single exit that was open. All exit gates need to open at the end of the gate...

Re: Please don't......

I've been trying to stay calm and collect all of my thoughts on tonight's game and I think I've finally done it, so here's what I'm thinking: - We need to get back to the fundamentals of the game. We were better than Wake tonight, yes, but the final score didn't show that. We are making extremely ca...

Re: Low Attendance?

Until we sell the stadium out for every single game, including FCS games, I don't see a need to expand. I saw way too much aluminum on Saturday to think we need to expand right now. Yeah, we might sell out for Wake and Miami, but every team is not Wake and Miami. Our fanbase needs to treat every gam...

Re: Make App State's Student Section Great Again!

Leave the band in the end zone and put a mic on them. I don't know why we'd ever want to move them back into the west stands when that's where the student section is. The overflow student section is in the endzone, which are notably worst seats for viewing. Being in the end zone allows the band to b...

Re: Make App State's Student Section Great Again!

In full fairness, here's my take on yesterday's student section: Yeah, they didn't get the APP>>>STATE chant down right, but then again, the STATE side didn't initiate, either. You can't really blame the students either, as the new speakers made it almost impossible to hear the other side doing anyt...

It was nice not having to squint to see the replay! Loved it! Sounded great, too.
