Re: Dangerously over capacity

There were at least hundreds of fans (including myself) who remained in their seats for 15 to 20 minutes after the game, just because there was no organization to leaving the stadium and it resulted in bottlenecks at every single exit that was open. All exit gates need to open at the end of the gate...

Re: Please don't......

I've been trying to stay calm and collect all of my thoughts on tonight's game and I think I've finally done it, so here's what I'm thinking: - We need to get back to the fundamentals of the game. We were better than Wake tonight, yes, but the final score didn't show that. We are making extremely ca...

Re: Low Attendance?

Until we sell the stadium out for every single game, including FCS games, I don't see a need to expand. I saw way too much aluminum on Saturday to think we need to expand right now. Yeah, we might sell out for Wake and Miami, but every team is not Wake and Miami. Our fanbase needs to treat every gam...

Re: Make App State's Student Section Great Again!

Leave the band in the end zone and put a mic on them. I don't know why we'd ever want to move them back into the west stands when that's where the student section is. The overflow student section is in the endzone, which are notably worst seats for viewing. Being in the end zone allows the band to b...

Re: Make App State's Student Section Great Again!

In full fairness, here's my take on yesterday's student section: Yeah, they didn't get the APP>>>STATE chant down right, but then again, the STATE side didn't initiate, either. You can't really blame the students either, as the new speakers made it almost impossible to hear the other side doing anyt...

It was nice not having to squint to see the replay! Loved it! Sounded great, too.

Re: Gold helmets this week

I have a feeling that it is going to be that edgy "IN" Yosef that we saw a few years back. I saw in a video a few days back that the players were wearing the logo on their warmup gear.

Re: New video board

Can someone post a picture of the 100% finished scoreboard and hill? It's not finished. Will it be done before Saturday @ 3.30? I believe so. I was there last night and they were working at 10 pm. It's 98% done, so I'm not worried that it won't be complete by Saturday. Thanks for the update! What i...

Re: Announcement?

I wish the Athletic Department would stop trying to make these overdone "themed" days happen. We've seen them try to "Stripe The Stadium" and push "White Outs" and now "Gold Outs," but they aren't meeting their fan base where they're at. I expect very few to hear about this push for all gold, so it ...

Re: New video board

These concrete blocks won't be curating for 10 days, as the beams are already going up! They've got two up and are currently working on getting the third one up as we speak. This thing is going to be truly massive, just in height alone. The middle beam alone stretches almost halfway up the press box...

Re: New video board

Just as another update: they began to disassemble the old video board today. Additionally, one of the massive beams for the new video board was sitting just behind where the poles will be for the new board, which are now massive concrete blocks. I would have taken pictures, but the stadium was close...

Re: New video board

Just an update: I was able to make it out to KBS last evening and the gate at the top of the hill (where the block A garden is) was wide open! They should probably be locking that gate up once the workday is over, seeing as they have millions of dollars worth of equipment lying around the stadium th...

Re: old Watauga H S

From what I've been told, lots of departments on campus have their eyes on that lot and have requested for at least a portion of it. The names I've heard thrown around include University Housing, University Police, Parking & Traffic, and quite a few academic departments/colleges. Athletics will want...

Re: HCC Video Board Installation

I'm not sure if there is any validity to this story, but a friend that works at the Physical Plant at Appalachian once told me that there are multiple reasons why the roofs of all of the buildings at App are green. Not only did they want the buildings to blend into the mountains during the summer, b...

Here's today's update: They were drilling down when I was there to take these pictures. These were taken around 6:15 this evening. http://i.imgur.com/HQ99Zrw.jpg You can get a better idea of the sheer size of the columns in this picture. These things are easily five feet in diameter. http://i.imgur....
