Re: Benson other G5 Commissioners Oppose Expansion

What gets me is of all folks the AAC Commish, especially this season, gives a full throated endorsement of the current set-up and agaist expansion. If I were UCF, I’d take that as a punch to the gut. Makes no sense to me. Go check out what AAC fans are saying about it on the csnbbs board. Essential...

Re: FCS Championship, JMU vs. NDSU, Noon, ESPN2

Predicted a decline in southeast FCS programs many years ago. There are SEVEN more FBS programs in a three state region compared to 10 years ago. The power at that level has shifted westward and I don’t predict it to change soon. Not to mention a few extra FCS programs (i.e. Mercer, ETSU, KSU and C...

Re: 2018 Football Schedule?

No FCS games = no Penn State (or UGA/Tennessee/etc.) Except App had an all FBS schedule last year with UTk. I prefer an all FBS schedule if DG can maintain 6 home games even though I wouldn't be that upset if every few years App only had 5 home games assuming 2-3 of the away games are within close ...

Re: UNCC's Judy Rose retiring in June

Grady Davis wrote the press release. That prank of ours totally backfired. If in 5 years UNCConcord makes a bowl game they’ll have us to thank. If the prank helped to retain a 1-11 football coach and get a b-ball coach fired in his 3rd season, then I'd say it wasn't a complete failure. Judy was bou...

Does UCF allow non-qualifiers?
No...the AAC as a conference does not allow NQs. This probably correlates with the drop off we have seen with ECU since joining the league, along with sub par coaching.

Re: UCF big win for g5

UCF beat Auburn who beat both national title contenders. I know it probably won’t happen but they should be ranked #2 after the championship. The Knights would get my vote, if I had one.

Re: Next DC

With the AFCA Convention taking place Jan. 7th-10th, my guess is we’ll know within the next 2 weeks.

As for hiring DJ, I think he has the potential to be a good LB coach. He learned Capers 3-4 in Green Bay and ended up wearing the green dot his rookie year once he got the opportunity to start.

Re: SoMiss vs FSU

I really wish we could’ve beaten them a couple years back. The kicking game cost the team the W. That’s 3 solid wins (USM, UTk & WF) this program could have hung their hat on if not for missed FG’s.

DG ratings

Looks like the Dollar General bowl garnered 1.77m viewers and a .4 rating with the NFL game (5.4m) kicking off about 1.5 hours after DG. Earlier time slots for the Armed Forces and Birmingham bowls brought double the viewership of DG with around 3.4m a piece. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-r...

$65k. $25k for non-CFP bowl and $15k for winning non-CFP bowl and $25k for 9+ wins. Not a bad Christmas bonus.

Re: Off the wall idea: should we schedule Toledo in the regular season in the future?

Raleigh and Norfolk are 185 miles apart. If North Carolina State needs a H&H with Old Dominion to become relevant with tidewater recruits they've got bigger problems. Exactly! If these H&H series against G programs truly created some recruitment boost in these “hotbed” locations, the aforementioned...

Re: Off the wall idea: should we schedule Toledo in the regular season in the future?

The "no recruiting" advantage is such a BS excuse. App hears it from fans of Wake, UNC, ECU, & NCSU as if playing at ODU and UNCC helps them see a large increase in recruits' interest level. Reading the Wolfpack board a few weeks ago when the scheduling rumor was swirling, several of their fans poin...

Re: Off the wall idea: should we schedule Toledo in the regular season in the future?

I'd have no problem App scheduling a H&H with the Rockets as they have proven to be one of the top MAC programs and more often than not, would help SOS. Also wouldn't mind seeing NIU, Ohio and CMU on the schedule as long as App limits it to one MAC team a season since a couple of the Sun Belt bowls ...
