Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
Baseball will be the same, there isn't some moat around that sport and with the expansion of scholarships in baseball being the largest of any sport that will lend itself to a farm system at the SBC level. Getting five spots into the NCAA tournament will more likely to 2-3 in two years time. Sadly,...

https://twitter.com/jeffpassan/status/2067666226705285498?s=46&t=UfUtPHfzYe5R3hJ5cku44g Buy College baseball stock now. Time to really start funding the program. (FWIW, I don’t like this for kids good enough to go from HS to Pro’s) Wonder what this means for the International Draft, if anything… Se...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Make it an endowment, fund it was 4 years annually and then go all in year 5. It falls apart when everyone only shows up ever fifth year as they know the plan. Creating an endowment to pay kids to play sports. What have we become as a society? Sad I have been saying this for years as a means to pay...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
With the money coming from ? Alumni. Maybe take a dollar or two from Football. A couple of us are trying to set up a call with Kermit to see where we can assist/gauge needs. The program has had a few guys that made some decent money over the past 10-15 years playing professionally. Could be a start...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
After spending some hours comparing the five teams that got in the regionals to Apps, using the Warren Nolan site, what T-dog and others said is that you have schedule a better more competitive schedule….. but what would that look like? 1- goal is to have a SOS of at least 30 ( not 113) 2- need to ...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Again , had we instead scheduled top competition and lost all of them , we would be in the conversation. This is kind of the "chicken/egg" argument. We don't want to schedule low because it hurts our RPI...no one wants to schedule us because it hurts their RPI. We aren't that bad. The worst Sun Bel...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
If the Sword of Damocles is hanging over the coaching staff’s heads, as Stonewall loves to constantly point out, that would be the dumbest thing Doug Gillin has ever done at App. Some of the folks Stonewall talks to may be that dumb but I don’t believe Gillin is one of them. Agree. If Powers that b...

Re: Luke Combs
BTW, Luke just had a concert at Oklahoma that raised $1.5 million for their NIL fund. Same thing at Tennessee earlier in the week. I do not think those were NIL events. They were very much just a stadium concert in the mold of the concert he played at KBS with reasonable face value ticket prices. $...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Someone mentioned to me that had we been swept by UNC or the equivalent, instead of Gardner Webb , that we would be in the conversation regarding an at large bid , at least as of today. As it stands in reality, we have to win the tournament. This makes a lot of sense. That’s how Troy is so high in ...

Re: G6 Playoff
This does nothing to address the fact our roster will continue to be a revolving door and every season is more and more a game of chance. There will be a continued decline in building anticipation during the offseason as no one will know what kinda team we have until toe meets leather in September. ...

Two quotes come to mind:
“Those who do not learn from history…”
&
“Fool me once, shame on you… fool me twice, shame on me..”

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Interesting. Any ideas what is attracting alumni to the triangle? For starters, Wake County is almost double the land size of Mecklenburg so those numbers aren’t surprising. Not sure on population though. The triangle does have a nice draw to it. Hard to go wrong in either City. Population is close...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Just my 2 cents. We would be better off going into the smaller towns than Charlotte. Charlotte is full of people from the Northeast and Midwest. The folks from the Northeast don’t care about college football and the other folks belong to Ohio State and Michigan. It’s where our largest alumni base i...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I was thinking of a role in line with developing a more cohesive football alumni network. Also hopefully developing more relationships in Charlotte. We provide real world value to people searching for engaged fanbases and are as good as the other options for the bored billionaire type I could see h...

Re: Football Alumni Network
I heard from some guys that weren’t invited…but it’s a start. They probably need to make sure they are registered with the Alumni Association. It’s unfortunate, but Athletics (including former athletes association) maintains a separate contact list than the Alumni Association does. When I was close...

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Serious question....On the RPI/Net rankings in baseball, does it hurt more to lose to a 200 net team or help more to win against a 100 net team? I am 100% sure in my mind all of our efforts should be placed on winning against Sunbelt teams.....but.....but...sometimes my mind leans to do we really w...

Re: UNCG, UNCW, UNCC All get more money from Raleigh
I’ll never forget my immediate cringe when hearing SNE first hand touting/branding Appalachian State as the Premier Undergraduate University in the southeast. Believe this was even in commercials. Felt like a ceiling being placed on our potential and limiting the perspectives of decision-makers.
