Re: Pat Dye: He Once Called Us a Sleeping Giant

Dye was a professional colleague and close friend of former App head coach Jim Brakefield. Dye tried every tool in his little black bag to get App to muscle up facilities and athletic fundraising and go with the Pirates into D-I when the SoCon was being relegated to D-IAA by the NCAA. To be fair, A...

Re: And Another Thing

If it doesnt directly pertain to App I would prefer not to see it here. There are a multitude of other arenas to debate religion/politics/ethics etc. Please not here!!!! Again, I don't have a problem with that up to a point. The reality is the it is hard to avoid political posts at times. Aside fro...

Re: NEZ Update Query

Kip's. I'm showing my ignorance here. "Kip/square inch is a unit of pressure equal to about 6894757.28 pascals and symbol is kip/in². Plural name is kips per square inch." Now that clears it right up.  But seriously, I have wondered from the time the supports were put up why there was...

Re: NEZ Update Query

Why are engineered in this country still using imperial units? Kip's, come on. As a physics major I just find that both strange and irritating at the same time.

Re: NEZ Update Query

I would 100% rather have too much support than too little support. The thought of having an incident like the bridge at Charlotte Speedway send shivers down my spine, especially considering there is an open patio right below those seats that I'm sure will be crowded. I always think of this when I h...

Re: NEZ Update Query

Given the weight of all that concrete it has to load bearing/safety related. I'm sure they will be sided with brick and look nice when done. I imagine it will look a lot like the brickwork on a smaller scale that supports the SEZ display board. And that will look nice. I will not be sitting there b...

Re: NEZ Update Query

who cares? They are obviously needed, otherwise, they wouldn't be there. I think it is important to have some information on the change. I am fine with it, in fact I like it, especially with a future connection to each side of the stadium. But I am also curious. YC felt it important enough to have ...

Re: And Another Thing

I think the hiding/censoring/"not authorized to view" is getting a bit heavy handed on the board. There are obvious differences of opinion on this board and some are very strongly held. Some of mine certainly are. I don't read every post on here and maybe I am missing something but I have not seen ...

Re: NEZ Update Query

I could see the columns being needed to support a catwalk and if I was sitting in the seats I would prefer the columns but that is just me. I think you are right in that we may never know the true backstory or we have the actual story and we are just looking for a conspiracy that is not there involv...

Re: NEZ Update Query

Did we ever get the low-down on the supports under the seats of the NEZ project? Are the supports temp support or did something indeed not get done correctly and something will be needed to prevent a major disaster going forward? I received the new issue of the YC newsletter and that was on the cov...

Re: 5 greatest Bands 60’s 70’s 80’s and 90’s

I was poking around looking for fun off-topic distractions and found this a week late, but thought I'd jump in. A lot of these span multiple decades, but I'll put them were they are most associated or most successful. 50s and early 60s: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Fatz Domino, Jerry L...

Commentary in today's Greensboro News and Record. Page C1 and from the Raleigh News and Observer so it was most likely in that paper a few days ago.
