Re: 2024-25 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
So we have Tate and Wilson returning, for now. We have plenty of PT to offer guys at least.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Welcome to the world of capatilism. Athletics style. Need to implement contracts for players with consequences if others want to “buy them out”, non-competes, etc. if they want to be treated like employees not students so be it. Sad day. Understand the sentiment but here is the rub with contracts. ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
So as a followup question for discussion (that may create a firestorm)... In the new environment, how much emphasis should be placed on high school recruiting??? I've been saying this for years . . . at what point do consumers just want to watch the highest level of paid sports. How popular is AAA ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
JMU's Edwards is in the portal. He was the best player in our league. He is definitely able to not only play but he can start at a low of power programs. At least two other JMU players have followed. It's pretty indemic across the conference. Georgia State has five in including the top two scorers ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
All of this was so predictable. No one should be surprised. It's a shame, and I'm grateful for this season. But if a program isn't supported, this will happen. And the thing is, none of these guys will go to the NBA. They just have a shot a more appreciated program. The fans stepped up support for ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I feel as though I'm losing a part of my life that brings me joy. Appalachian athletics has provided an outlet from the outside noise for over two decades personally. Isn't getting difficult to stay invested at the current rate. Same here, Saint. Although disappointed with the changes and turnover ...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Fortunately we have a short trip to UNCA and are at home for the Marshall series. Tujetsch is out for Tuesday but should be able to pitch an inning or two for Marshall.

Now we see why they want the auto-bids eliminated.

Wake has a few of really good players, but they aren't some far superior team. We settled for too many 3's early in the game instead of attaching them, but a lot of the looks were wide open though. If we hit them it's a different game. Of course the FT situation was huge.

Re: NIT
UVA - Lowest NET at-large - 54 Indiana St - highest NET left out - 29 Ridiculous. UVA has been very inconsistent and proved they aren't good enough. Those programs get multiple passes for bad losses but everyone else has zero wiggle room. We all know it's because what UVA did in the past not this y...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
We played well enough to win the series after never winning a game out there. Hopefully we are fully focused on Queens Tuesday with CCU looming next weekend.

Re: Student Fees
And that's the point. Athletics and academics should have never been this intertwined. We are charging students 2k+ over 4 years for something they don't use without giving anyone an opt out choice. There are plenty of things on campus supported by fees that not everyone takes advantage of. Athleti...

Going to Texas State the finish up 18 straight away from home is a tough draw. Every one of our sports struggles in San Marcos.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
I believe most of the suites in the new tower have commitments in place. That's a lot of long term funding secured if so. We definitely need to upgrade/expand seats for the regular fans, but I can see why they'd want to get this tower done first. I do believe it will also address some issues that im...

https://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/college/sun-belt/coastal-carolina-university/article286678640.html According to this article, Coastal could be garnering three times as much in student fees for athletics as we do. The university disputes the figure but the figure they cite is still substant...

Guys battled hard. Tough luck with Wilson having to come out after warming up in the 7th. Little clearly wasn't ready to go when he came in. I hope Wilson is ok.

Re: NIT
At this point only a few teams with records similar to ours haven't locked themselves into the NCAA Tournament. If Vermont and GCU win their leagues we should have the best record of anyone on the outside looking in. That should put us in the NIT.
