Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
You do understand that you are arguing with a guy (311neers) that actually played baseball for App under Pollard, right? I'd say his perspective as a former player carries a lot of weight. So I’m gonna try not to be a smart ass here. But yes, I am a former Division I baseball player myself and a li...

Re: March Madness
When you look at their success, or lack thereof, over the past 30 years in all sports, they are very mid major: Last football conference championship is 1979 I think. Hadn't won ACC basketball tourney since 87 before this year & last regular season since 74 I think. Baseball is the only thing that ...

Re: Student Fees
And that's the point. Athletics and academics should have never been this intertwined. We are charging students 2k+ over 4 years for something they don't use without giving anyone an opt out choice. There are plenty of things on campus supported by fees that not everyone takes advantage of. Athleti...

We’ll see this weekend. Duke is at Wake. Those boys can sure hit it. After tonight they lead the nation in homers.

Re: Free Throws
Free throws matter when they matter. When close games are on the line at the end, the focus is on fouling the poorest free throw shooters. There's a reason for that. Close games can be won or lost on the free throw line.

Re: Speir is home
Sigh. I don’t doubt he’s a great dude but All I see is another re-tread app coach that couldn’t get a job somewhere else He’s been doing this same role at Louisville and Cincinnati since he left. He’s coming home. GO APPS!! Just curious, What does a Senior Assistant to the Head Coach do? Responsibi...

Never want to lose, but come on y’all. We were never getting an at-large NCAA invite. We just need to secure a top 4 seed to make a tourney championship less grueling. The goal is to win the conference tournament anyway.

Re: Charlotte Checkers
Ownership has been the same since 2006. The Hurricanes logo has been dropped from the scoreboard and from all gear. I have no idea who owns them but they are now affiliated with the Florida Panthers of the NHL. They have never been owned by the Hurricanes. That's not how it works in minor league ho...

Re: MBB vs Ga Southern, 6:30 p.m. ET, Thursday, Jan. 25 of the 2024th year of the Common Era, Wear Black, not as cold
How often do we see poor FT shooting teams go deep in the NCAA tourney? We don’t, because March Madness introduces parity as it progresses. And FT’s become one of those difference makers. So FT’s don’t necessarily matter…until the competition tightens up and suddenly they make all the difference. L...

Re: Miami Fl 9 years on team
I don't mind that he wants to play. I do think it's ridiculous that the NCAA allowed it. Nothing matters anymore. My understanding is he got a three-year medical waiver because his injury was so significant that he was out that long. He will have only played five seasons. I think the NCAA got this ...

Re: Miami Fl 9 years on team
I like when someone posts about an App guy that he "got a job and is moving on with life". I read this article last night and could not believe the guy actually was in the signing class of 2016. So by the time he's actually done playing two complete groups (based on 4 years of college) will have co...

Good thread . . . informative, provocative questions, even some healthy disagreement. I sure hope you didn't waste your miracle on a cabin thread, that would really...

Re: Unlimited transferring is coming
Not sure the courts will have much say over an academic institution’s transfer acceptance requirements. But I’m sure it will be challenged. What university would allow a student to transfer in and get a degree from that institution after completing only 12ish hours at that institution? All transfer ...
