Re: Fox fired

Lutz checks a lot of boxes for me. Plus, he's getting younger by the minute.

Re: MBB in SBC Tourney Round 1: Apps @ ULM 8 PM ESPN+

We’re an athletic department with a $30 million budget but I’m not buying the notion that a $200,000 buyout is a drop in the bucket. I see too much anecdotal evidence to the contrary. Almost all of our Olympic sports are under funded. Our North Endzone project looks painfully frugal. The 105 Projec...

We’re scheduled out to 2024. I’m not sure we’re even looking to push beyond that, at least for now.

Re: Early 2019 S&P+ Rankings

I'm pretty sure we're not getting a "down" UNC team. We're getting a team that was down in 2018. The Tar Heels went 2-9 with two overtime losses and four losses decided by a touchdown or less. In my book, that team was snakebit. That's partly due to Larry Fedora's struggles as a head coach and partl...

Re: Another Top 25

We were facing a fourth-and-four at the PSU 39-yard-line with 20 seconds left and one time out. Had we not converted the fourth down, I'm betting the same number of Monday morning quarterbacks would have questioned that decision. I'm OK with a 56-yard-field goal try in that situation.

ETSU was 8-4 last season (6-2 in the Southern Conference) and lost to Jacksonville State in the first round of the FCS playoffs 34-27. We had one common opponent. The Buccaneers beat Gardner-Webb 45-0. (We beat Gardner-Webb 72-7.)

Do you ever wonder about some of the people who come on this board with seemingly App allegiances? They ask questions -- on an open forum read by all of our players and recruits -- that are bound to raise the anxiety level of our players and recruits. Sometimes I wonder which team these people are r...

For those of you who can't make the game in Boone tonight, one of our better recruits -- Donovan Gregory of Matthews Carmel Christian -- will be in Greensboro tonight to face Greensboro Day. The game tips at 6 p.m. Carmel Christian (21-1) is MaxPreps' top-ranked team in North Carolina. Gregory is th...

Re: Spring Practice

Hope Coach considers keeping spring practices early in 2019 as we have done in the past. Over the last few years, we have been one of the first to begin Spring Practice in all of FBS. Getting it done early, gives players more time to heal from any injuries and allows for nearly 5 months of solid co...

Question: Will it be a 3-4 defense; a 4-3 defense; or does it make any difference?
We won't truly know until spring practice.

It makes a huge difference. We are built for a 3-4 defense. Our linebackers and defensive linemen are smaller and faster than those typically on a 4-3 defense.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

I won’t be here to say I told you so as I will be upset because our D is not what it could have been. What frustrates me with Roof hire is that we hire a guy who will change our scheme and we that scheme change does not suit the personnel we have. I see is going to more of a 4-2-5 base. I get we ru...
