Re: First game: ETSU

I don't think Coach Drink is going to let the team look past anyone, especially his very first game as our head coach. He knows full well that starting his tenure at App with a loss to ETSU would put him in a huge hole. That would replace the Loss to Liberty (remember that one?) as our most embarras...

Re: Jerry Moore Plaza

I like this idea. Athletics is the "front porch" of our university and the "front porch" of our stadium is now named for a great coach! I feel like this is a fitting tribute for a great coach who played a significant role in elevating our program and in the development of App athletes for almost a q...

Rule 9: http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2018MFB_FAQ_Uniforms_Contest_Delays_20180921.pdf I hope you didn't put the guy that decided to fill your stands with Niner colors in charge of lining this up. Re: SBNation UNC preview article - interesting

From what I've been reading about UNC and their new staff, they are wanting to implement a more "up-tempo" offensive scheme, including no-huddle and quick-snap plays. I've noticed us having some issues on defense from time-to-time (not all the time, but enough to be a little concerned) with this in...

Re: SBNation UNC preview article - interesting

Yes, it's a total "homer" write up. I think he tried to give App some good credit but clearly he did practically no research. He keeps saying we are changing to a pro-style under center offense which isn't true at all. He has no concept of our offensive philosophy (conservative, run first, ball cont...

Re: CBS Sports names App best D1 team in NC

New Jersey - No scholly and FCS Princeton is rated better than Prig5 and B10 Rutgers. Ouch, and to thank how far they fell from National Championships in 1869 with a 1-1 record. The 1-1 record was a split with the other co-national champion that year-Princeton. Calling the Ivy League schools non-sc...

Re: Official Fall Camp thread

Line will need more balanced skills than road grading in this offense. Ericsaid sometimes you just miss the point..roadgraders, hog mollies big uglies all euphemisms for OL and we are dangerously short in the depth dept I understand the point. But road graders as a euphemism would imply a ground ba...

Re: Improving a tradition

I like Sean Connery but I really think we need to retire this video and have some "Appalachian Celebs" (Former athletes, coaches, University Administrators, famous alums....whatever) make some videos. I know this was tried once before with Eric Church but it could be executed better and I think peop...

Re: White Out Game

I'd hate to disappoint the UNCC fan who reads Yosef's Cabin more than I do, but my memory of prior "white out" games leads me to believe that a large contingent of our most stubborn fans will be wearing black and gold for this game. I probably will be wearing black: to some extent due to my persona...

"Welcome to the Rock", delivered by Sean Connery came from the movie "The Rock" in 1996.
Duh!!! You're right. After I sent that I realized that was way too far back and I had the wrong movie. I hadn't made it back yet to correct. Thanks.

Re: Duck playing tonight? Panthers at Bears

unfortunately it's a long shot for Duck and Hayes both but I hope they do well! Duck has the advantage of being an excellent punt returner also, but that probably isn't enough to overcome his size (lack of). He was great at App and I hope he gets his shot in the NFL.

If I'd been arrested for every law I broke while a college student, I'd be serving a life sentence. Dayum, did you kill someone? Not for the extent of the crimes, but for the number of them, all minor. "sentences to run consecutively" You can't be arrested for run on sentences. And if i...

Re: Improving a tradition

I went to APP in the early 80's, in those days "The Rock" referred to establishments such as Clyde's, PB Scott's, Holly's, Antlers, Landmark, Mother Fletcher's etc. :D Pre-dates the 80's my friend! 8-) What are you saying pre-dates the 80's? I might have missed something here. I can say also, as a ...

NOBODY should put too much stock in pre-season polls or rankings. It's great to be getting the publicity but it's mostly just something to keep fans busy in the off season.

Re: White Out Game

Get to Boone early and check out the local Walmart. Don't know what they will have this year but last year they had some decent looking white polo's (performance fabric - Russell) for about $20. No more than I will wear a white App shirt, that's about all I wanted to put into one. Yes, I'm a cheapsk...

Re: Official Fall Camp thread

If we are going to a faster up tempo offense do we really want 6’5” 300 lb guys up front? Can “larger” linemen keep up the pace? Granted we need larger than 270 lb freshmen but to completely dismiss the possibility that a freshman just might be ready to provide some depth is strange thinking. I wou...

Re: Possible new LB?

Looks like a solid add! Glad to have him. He looks like he has the physical tools and coach's kids usually play smart. He has played for two P5 programs. They weren't top tier P5 but that's still solid experience. Welcome to Boone!
