Re: Official Black Bayou prediction thread

I don't pick scores, but I do believe that App covers on this one...even with the huge spread. ULM's OL is totally outmatched in this game and the Apps will live in their backfield. On Offense, the Apps have several young talented players wanting to prove something and several upper classmen wanting...

Re: Mizzou over LSU

I hope Drink continues to be successful. His leaving for a better opportunity and seemingly contradicting previous statements is similar to the issue of recruits who flip. Is the case of the coach, there is an actual contract, but even then, in this country we do not have involuntary servitude. A co...

Wish the gamer was Saturday. Don’t like playing Napier on a short week.
At least the game is in Boone, so we won't have a travel day. I'm not too concerned about it being a Friday game.

Re: Injury update 10/26/20

I know that 94 has some connections that I don't have, but I have to say that I doubt Williams was held out the remainder of the game simply because of the fumble. I can see the coach pulling him for a series to do some "coaching" and let him get his head straight, but Williams has an excellent trac...

Re: TX St set for 3pm 11/7 ESPN+

I have been expecting Texas State to have a "breakout" year for a while now. I don't think this is the year but they are improved. They have played tough against some good teams including SMU and Boston College. This is the year that App has to show up for EVERY SunBelt game or there is a significan...

Re: Dale Jones Appreciation Thread

Yeah that run from Marcus was great to see but putting the ball on the turf killed it for him. If I'm not mistaken, didnt each of the backs have a fumble. Only Marcus lost his though. Seems like we need to see a running back crew walking around campus with footballs in hand at all times ala ESU in ...

The playcalling does tend to look better when you're facing a defense that allows 42 points per game...
Play calling looks better when the offense is executing.

Re: Dale Jones Appreciation Thread

I have to admit that I was a little concerned about Jones as the DC. I know he knows the game and believed that the situation was better suited for his skills than his previous stint as DC. That said, I was only cautiously optimistic. After 4 games, especially last night's performance, I have to say...

Re: Arkansas State 10/22

Ark allows over 300 YPG passing. Do we throw over/under 25 times tonight? Open it up some or do we go vanilla due to the time off? If I had to guess (which I do since I have zero inside info), I expect App to work hard to establish the run game. This is based on three factors: 1) App is and always ...

Re: Arkansas State 10/22

The D did a pretty good job of containing an excellent Marshall passing game. I wouldn't mind seeing some more aggressive coverage at times also, but we have been all about "keeping it in front of you" for a long time. We will see what our corners can do against this Arkansas State receivers. I'm re...

Re: Louisiana Game

Assuming that App remains in the conference race and in the event that another game is not playable as scheduled, I would think it makes sense to use the Dec. 4/5 slot to replay that game (especially if it is a SBC East opponent). If that doesn't happen, then we should absolutely play the game again...

Re: “The Sunbelt game of the year”

Just my opinion but I don't think there is any scenario where a white flag is raised and starters are benched in order to build for the future. App will complete in each and every game with the intent to win....regardless. I still believe we can win the conference again, but there are just so many c...

Serious question... How do these games wind up 4+ hours with 2 minutes left?! Extra advertising money to make up for Covid losses? I’ve wondered this all season (even during P5 games).
Games with throw-heavy offenses tend to take longer because the clock stops a lot more.

Re: “The Sunbelt game of the year”

I heard the "game of the year" comment and had the same knee jerk reaction that most folks on here had. "That feeling passed pretty quickly though. Let's face it...these guys have to talk and fill time and their job is to promote the game they are broadcasting. We really shouldn't get all hurt by th...

Re: Will we ever be okay again?

Let me be clear: my original post has next to nothing to do with the Marshall loss (but we did look bad). My concern has much more to do with the financial impact of this season on our athletic program. We are in fact loosing a lot of money because of the attendance restrictions. If the P5s move (a...

Re: Will we ever be okay again?

There has been a small vocal group who immediately started projecting our loss to Marshall out to conclusions on our head coach and the staff. This is a huge over-reaction in my view. I don't know if that is the concern of the OP but at this point I am NOT concerned. We have a new staff with a first...

Re: UL-Monroe

I'm not one who likes to jump on struggling programs and criticize, but the ULM question is valid. Neither the institution nor the success on the field/arena really support an argument for FBS. With the current pandemic creating even larger financial challenges, it's really hard to see the logic in ...

Re: Hypothetical....Would you? Game at home 7% or ???

For an example of what happens when a team gives up the home field advantage, even in these oddball times, just see the results of the LSU/Missouri game yesterday. Yeah, LSU is down this year and has been overrated, but they should have beaten Missouri pretty easily. I completely get the financial s...
