Re: App State represented in NFL Draft

It's interesting seeing them call out Moore's ability as a receiver out of the backfield as a strength. I had seen other analysis saying that is a weakness. I always thought he was pretty darn good out of the backfield myself.

Hopefully Parker can help give Murray some time to throw more TD passes to Malachi. They need some help for sure.

Re: Gordon's Fisherman Logo and App-Ah-Lay-Chun

I'm not sure how ESPN is allowed to create their own logo for a team. I can't remember now what the original use for the stylized logos was but ESPN created them for everyone, not just App. I would assume that since our conference's broadcast/tv contract is with ESPN, they have a working relationsh...

Re: 2019 would you rather

You start with the premise that we go 10-2. I know our goals are to win SBC and bowl. I have repeatedly stated our "additional" goals should now be make NY6 and win it. It is a guarantee that two losses will absolutely eliminate us from making the NY6, probably one loss therefore in your scenario w...

Re: Dear Coach Drinkwitz

By App standards their record in 2018 was poor, but for a team in their state of development, 5 wins is pretty decent. Those wins included WKU, ODU, Florida Atlantic, and Southern Miss. None of those teams are at their peak, but those decent wins. Trying to paint Charlotte as the worst of FBS is pro...

Re: Dear Coach Drinkwitz

I don't really understand the need to extract a few posts from delusional fans and behave as if EVERY Charlotte fan, or the institution as a whole, believes they are disrespecting us. I live in the Charlotte area and I just don't find that to be true at all. Also, Charlotte as the right to choose th...

Re: 2019 would you rather

Sorry Bigdaddyg, but I cannot agree that we are a NY6 or bust program now, although we obviously have some NY6 or bust fans. NY6 can be a star to help guide the ship but putting unrealistic expectation on reaching that actual star on a specified timeline is a recipe for failure, not improvement. Foc...

Re: App BB @ NC Central Eagles, Wed., Durham "The DAP"

Just for historical perspective, we split games with NCCU last year, winning 6-0 in Durham and losing 6-7 in Boone. I hope we're able to get the game in but the weather does put that in question. Yeah, I know about NCCU and last season. It's a little amusing that we complain about our cold weather ...

Re: 2019 would you rather

As with almost everything, our goals are and should be a hierarchy. The top of the hierarchy (first goal) is a conference championship. That's been the stated position of App coaches for a long time...and for most coaches elsewhere (at least publically). Secondary would be winning the bowl games, ot...

Re: Lance Ware to ASU

Having someone like Coach Ware will help in not breaking what is not broken with Appalachian Football. I hope that having Lance Ware in the position he is in will act as a safety net when Drinkwitz leaves. I expect that he will take his quarterback with him just like he did at Boise State. Wow...Th...

Re: 2019 would you rather

I can't really choose between these hypotheticals and fortunately I don't have to. The good news is that, if we beat both Carolinas, there's a pretty good chance we are strong enough to sweep the belt also. It certainly isn't a given because there are some good teams who aren't going to lay down for...

Re: At Tennessee this weekend

Just a reminder folks....this is year 2 of the rebuild. Kermit Smith's first year was a throw away because he had zero opportunity to recruit once he was hired. That's the nature of a spring sport. Last year he basically cleaned out and brought in 18 new guys. This year he talked about having more l...

Re: At Tennessee this weekend

I get it. We should have done better, but how 'bout let's give the guys more than one series before leaping to conclusions. We're literally just getting started. Kermit Smith is a proven winner, but nobody should expect an instant turn around.

It would have been nice to open up against an easier opponent rather than against an SEC team. On to NCCU. We'll get things on track.

Re: Speir Extended for Five Years at WCU

Good luck to Speir and WCU. I know it seems like blasphemy on here to say this, but I pull for Western in the SoCon now also. I don't have time to watch many FCS games but I do check the standings and keep up with how they are doing.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Here’s the deal Zac has proven to be a stud QB in his first year. We can only imagine his upside for the next 3 years. It isn’t like we now have some unknown at QB at this point. Drink & Co are going to try to exploit that to the maximum potential over the next few years. How could anybody think ot...

Re: At Tennessee this weekend

Just a reminder that last year's team was a major re-build with something like 18 new faces on the team. The SEC is consistently at the top of the NCAA baseball rankings with several teams ranked in the top 25 (Currently 5 teams in the top 10: Vanderbilt, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss....and th...

Re: New Hire

I actually don't blame Capel although his performance was the cause of our demise. Cobb was the responsible party since he hired an absolutely inexperienced coach to do a job he was completely unqualified to do. I think Capel knows basketball, but he was clueless regarding the administrative part of...
