Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
I have faith in Clark to assess an offensive lineman. My comment is based upon our historical recruiting practices, which at times needed to trend to smaller/quicker players due to availability. Would love for these three to mesh with the others and grind the opponent down in the 4th quarter even w...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
There is never a guarantee, but the up-side of these big guys looks amazing. I don't think we would have picked them up if they didn't move well. I can see that being "too" tall might create challenges getting up, but the height/weight ratio looks good. The Louisville kid could even pick up some wei...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
"Based on the fact that Kerns is still the coach and the mass exodus didn’t spawn a change at the top, I am pretty confident in saying that there was anything underlying within the program." I think the answer will come with whether or not some good players commit because I would think the player a...

Re: 2024-25 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Maybe this is a negotiation tactic. Kerns demands a BIG raise and if they meet it then all these guys on portal come back with him. If not, everybody is gone? Basically team union forcing school to up coaches salary or else. Who knows? Does anybody have a better explanation? I doubt it. Who wants t...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Simple question to the group. If you or your child were in a similar situation would you advise them to stay or go? And when I say situation, take out your love for App and think about in terms of your kid, who doesn’t have that same love or devotion. I’m not saying that these are sound decisions, ...

Re: Most College Football Wins: 2024 CFN 5-Year Program Analysis
Gee - I thought the program was going down the drain??? I am NOT taking the bait. Dislike that you tried it. We made adjustments after severe pressure. Go App The problem with the way you say that is that it implies no adjustments were being made, or would have been made without this assumed "sever...

Re: Athletes being paid
That's the thing. The Ivy League is a different model than the rest of college athletics. It's hard to compare with public universities on any type of consistent basis.

Re: This is right up there with being amphibious!!!
I think that Shackleford was the amphibious one. Cozell McQueen was more of a geography major. He was from SC and when asked why he chose NC State, he replied that growing up, he always dreamed of playing ball up North. I actually thought it was Cozell McQueen who made that quote (like a couple of ...

The Ivy League isn't hurting for money.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 8:55 amAgree. I envision that some schools will simply drop some of these sports entirely.
The Ivy League would survive without them.

Re: Cabral to WVU
NIL is specific to players in that until recently, they couldn't do endorsements. Coaches have always had the option of signing endorsement deals to supplement income. I hate to see Cabral (or any of our good coaches) leave, but the fact that our budget limits us isn't a new development.

Re: App MBB vs Coastal, Saturday, Jan. 20, 4:30 p.m. ET, year two thousand and twenty four, Cure Bowl celebration game,
For me, the most exciting thing about this year's team is that, if we can keep it up and win a trip to the dance, we shouldn't be seeded at 15 or 16 like previous trips. If we can get up to a more respectable seed (even 11th or 12th), we have a much more legit chance to advance. I know it's too earl...

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
Good discussion about the NT. I have to admit, I'd like to see a bigger athletic body in there but I like what our guys did this past season (for the most part). I also really like what I see in this year's incoming Freshmen. I'm aware that OL/DL generally need a year or so to develop and we rarely ...

Re: we got a QB transfer from Texas
Wright was ranked in the top 25 dual threat QBs out of HS. Running the scout team for a program like Texas isn't bad experience to bring. He's experienced at learning new looks quickly and has probably taken more practice snaps than QB2. The more I learn, the better Wright looks as a n addition to o...

Re: JMU vs. APP on ESPN2/U
For me JMU is third on that list in conference behind GS and Marshall, younger fans’ list likely looks different. I agree. For me it is 1) Georgia Southern, 2) Marshall and 3) JMU. Coastal is "rivalry-ish". They've made strides but need to sustain it for a while before they are officially on my per...

Re: JMU vs. APP on ESPN2/U
App vs JMU could end up with a great rivalry. #UpsetU Lol, I bet JMU hates us!! I thought it was there from the FCS days and especially the 07-08 years. Assuming we stay in the same conference for a few decades I could see this supplanting GaSo for all-around rivalry in all sports. As soon as JMU j...
