Re: UCF are you kidding me

Right now UCF has competition from the Mountain West. Hawaii has two P5 wins and Boise State has a win over FSU. If one of them wins out, UCF is probably going to be going to an AAC bowl. Their easy schedule isn't going to turn many heads this year.

Re: UNC @ Wake (9/13)

Next week will be two teams, both hungry and wanting to prove something. That's exactly as it should be. No excuses for either team. If App has addressed the concerns on D (which I believe they will) and shows up motivated (can't imagine they won't) then I see no reason we can't win. Neither team wi...

Re: "Poor Performances" in the past 3 years

I agree. His record does speak for itself. Here is a summary of the programs where Roof has coached since 2008 and how they've all done in terms of the ranking of the Defense (total D). Let's look: Comments by school: Minnesota: Hard to evaluate. This is one of his only stops where his ranking was w...

Re: Perfect Scenario Brewing for Tarheel Game

The Heels won't be blown away by looking at our game film from our first two games. So, this could be a perfect trap game situation for us to benefit from. Mack Brown is experienced enough to realize this but convincing his players is another story... Everyone thinks Drink and Roof are playing chec...

Re: Perfect Scenario Brewing for Tarheel Game

I hate to throw any cold water on the thread, but how does the fact that four coaches on staff at UNC are former App coaches impact their likelihood of "overlooking" App? Mack and Sparky both date back to the "old school" App, but Stacy Searels and Lonnie Galloway probably remember us pretty well. ...

Re: "Poor Performances" in the past 3 years

The flaw in your reasoning is that those past turnarounds were with either inexperienced coaches, or experienced coaches who had proven they could recover.....there was reason for hope. We now have an experienced DC who has proven he can't turn things around.....over and over......big difference. B...

Re: Perfect Scenario Brewing for Tarheel Game

I have to admit that I'm somewhat torn tonight. I know that it is in App's best interest for UNC to win (both in keeping them cocky and SOS) but I usually pull for Wake and State in the ACC and I ALWAYS like seeing UNC lose. I think that, if we have our intensity and execution where it should be, we...

Re: App State Takes On University of Tennessee

Lol guys, everything is fine. Mormons arent allowed to be "up to something". Its against their religion. I’m not too sure about that. I lived next door to a Mormon family. They had five kids, so I think they were always up to something. Yes, but they are married so, regardless of religion, that wou...

Re: SI writer refers to Appalachian State as “Tune up game” for UNC

Some folks wanted to go ahead and write in a "W" for this game based on their record last year but most seemed to recognize it would be a tough game. Now, after two games, App is off to a slower start and UNC is exceeding expectations. We aren't viewed as favorites anymore but I expect the line to b...

Re: UNCC

I had ever expectation that Charlotte would be an improved team this year but I have to admit that I am more impressed with Healy than I expected to be. He was kind of an unknown in terms of how he would do at the FBS level, but he's definitely off to a great start. UMass seemed to be improving but ...

Re: SI writer refers to Appalachian State as “Tune up game” for UNC

Honestly, while I think fans have a few legitimate reasons for concern based on our team's first couple games, getting the team sufficiently motivated for this next game would not be on the list for me. I agree. If there is a silver lining to the game Saturday, I would say that it should have serve...

Re: Which App Player

So, in order to mock NewApp for "running up his post total", now everyone else on the board gets to run up their own totals by posting their semi-humorous random questions. Nice! Maybe you should all THANK him for the opportunity. :-) I'm sorry "semi-humorous" posts? Not sure, but I think I might b...

Based on the interviews I heard earlier in the season, it seemed like Roof was the highly animated, motivational coach who got them up.

I don't like seeing athletes injured either. That said, UNC will make excuses if we win regardless of the injury situation.

Re: ESPN writer refers to Appalachian State as “Tune up game” for UNC

For the record, the article is from SI, not ESPN. Technically I guess all non-conference games could be called "tune up" games but I hope UNC is thinking of it that way. He calls Wake a “tune up game” as well, so he’s not talking about a conference thing. It’s up to us to prove him wrong. We receiv...

Re: Fire him

Roof's "decades of mediocrity as a DC" (from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Roof#Coaching_career ) One can judge for themselves if his career has been mediocre. If it has been why do HCs continue to hire him. This doesn't necessarily absolve him of the deficiencies that we all saw in o...
