One thing NIL/portal will do is keep school records intact. With the players transferring left and right most holding school records now, probably won't see them beat.
Good point, I had not considered the impact on school or conference records.

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

It's a minor league now. College football is dead. We should refer to it as dead and a governing league needs to run CFB moving forward as kids are doing whatever they want with little governance at this point. I am no longer interested in App Football like I used to, I'll still watch and rep my ge...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

I am not really sure what the big deal is. Your school is your school. Things may change, but it is still your school. The changes are for everyone not just Appalachian. So, if everyone has to play by the same rules the system is fair. I would say that the system is fairer now than it has ever been...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

Yep, as soon as they start sharing revenue they would in their become employees. This means they can't be discriminated against due to age or anything of the sort. The only thing they could do would require them to be registered for classes. So yes, you could ha e any age at thay point. I doubt tha...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

I still like the plan from the old days with a tweak. Once upon a time, scholarship players were given a small stipend to pay for laundry costs, a meal out, long distance phone calls home, etc. I think that stopped somewhere in the 70's. I'd like to see that tweaked to a small base salary that all ...

I have a hard time believing that a major company REALLY needs some random college athlete to help them sell their products especially if that athlete has to say who they are.
That's the ruse.

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL

I saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools. For one why is it still being called NIL? If a guy is going to simply get paid a salary why the song and dance with the name, image and likeness crap? Wasn’t the whole intent of that to pay athletes whose name...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF

I just wanted to put a thought out to the others on this board. This past weekend we witnessed the greed of (mostly the family of) a QB from UT that had already signed a huge deal to play for UT. Let me be clear..... I hate the way college Athletics have gone in this NIL era. But, what we are witne...

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL

I wonder how many fans are going to tolerate a "college" sports world that looks like that, and how many are going to bail over the next 5-10 years? I can only speak for myself, but I came close to not renewing my season tickets because of this mess. Truth is, only the fans rejecting it can save it...

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL

The more that comes out from coaches and administrators I'm starting to think college is going to look like some hybrid of pro baseball and pro soccer in terms of league salary caps, transfers, buyouts etc. The g5 would truly be a minor league for the p3. Buy outs would go down depending on how man...

A salary cap is like trying to bail the Titanic with a bucket. That's all she wrote folks.

The official soda is the highest bidder. Looks like Coke and Pepsi are evenly represented across the country in the university system.

Thoughts and prayers. I was accepted into UNC back in the day, but thankfully there was divine intervention and I went to ASU.

Re: A sobering reality we are going to have to face

App fans can't get past the obsession of reaching the CFP? Who are you talking to on a regular basis. The majority of the craziest people in our fanbase (i.e. those of this board), are wanted to compete for SBC titles. CFP would be a once every two decades type run is our wildest dreams. Those fans...
