Re: Bowl Games

I'd like to hit Boca Raton, Cure Bowl, and Myrtle Beach once each. Long-term, we need bowl tie-ins in: ––Charlotte ––Atlanta ––D.C. ––Charleston SC. If David Tepper & Dan Synder can get the domed stadiums they want 2 bowls in DC/Charlotte/Atlanta would be better for everyone than bowls in Mobile & ...

I’m guessing a majority (or at least a plurality) of App fans would be thrilled to ...

Re: Bowl Games

If Myrtle Beach really is hoping/angling for us to visit at least every couple/few years then we need to find a way to get Coastal back to an earlier spot in the football calendar. In those years we travel to Coastal in the regular season (like this year) I can imagine a good many fans wouldn't be ...

Re: Solid points brought up. Potential P5 break.

So here is a question for the group. Opinions are opinions and there is no wrong answer. But if they went to this model of 90 to 100 teams with the initial 65 being the current P5 schools and Notre Dame, which 25 teams do you think fills out the 90 quota? Here are my 25 in no particular order. I am ...

Re: Bowl Games

Good news: More flexibility with matchups, missing out on New Orleans doesn't automatically put us in Alabama. Better chance at Orlando, and Boca is a nice addition. Bad news: We're probably never going back to New Orleans, which IMO is the best city and best stadium on the list. Hard to envision a...

Re: Solid points brought up. Potential P5 break.

It was an interesting read. I had similar takeaways. My interest lie in the P5 mantra. It seems to be a bigger thing for football than for basketball. If they choose to breakaway, they are going to do it for football money only and is that enough? Does March Madness exist as the tournament belongs t...

Any idea how many schollys this accounts for or what the budget was for those sports?
The scholarships equate to somewhere a bit north of 300k.

Most of you may be aware of this, but just in case you didn't know- All of the student athlete's affected by yesterday's cuts will have their scholarships honored. Furthermore, if the athlete wishes to transfer to a school that still has the sport, our university will assist them in finding a new s...

as a parent of a student who's team was just cut this hurts. wish they didn't expand the end zone and saved some money. I am very sorry for how this affected your family. Re: App cutting multiple sports

It looks like they targeted Men’s teams....I am glad Wrestling made the first round of cuts. I could see the wrestling program paying for itself if we can keep the coach. They seem to be drawing crowds. Wrestling essentially funds itself with its camps. With no camps this year, they will need some ...

My guess is that it’s not out of the woods yet...and it’s the cheapest to operate.
Golf doesn’t move the needle enough to cut it.

If you added AAC teams to the mix of possible members (I know that it isn't):

Cincy/Marshall
ODU/ECU
App/UNCC
GS/GA St.
Troy/UAB
UCF/USF

Would be a great east coast conference.
Agree. But I can’t see how you don’t include the F*U’s in with UCF and USF.

Re: ECU among the growing number of institutions faced with eliminating one or more sports

Something of interest from their 24/7 Board, the meeting of the BoT spoke of the costs attributing to the deficit were occurred from being in the AAC. I believe that amount to be north of $4 million. If accurate, that begs to address two questions; 1) does this change ones desire to join the AAC? A...

Re: ECU among the growing number of institutions faced with eliminating one or more sports

On the topic of regional realignment from ECU’s perspective, joining a newly formed league or joining/rejoining Sunbelt/C-USA can’t look like a viable option. Regardless of travel savings the drop off in league revenue distribution would be so great it would stop that conversation in its tracks. Wo...
