Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion

Charles Wright is not listed on the roster so we definitely need to add 1 more QB in this cycle. I just hope we are careful because Wilson expects to start in 2025 and if we sign 2 QBs it could spook him into transferring. Who expects Wilson to start next year? I have heard that Wilson is working h...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion

Boy, he sure didn't last long on the mountain. You would think that a kid that spent 3 years at Texas would have come to Boone in much better position to compete (for a backup position) than what evidently occurred. I mean, Sark is supposed to be a qb whisperer type of oc and coach. Of course, now ...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion

If they took my viewpoint point, they should be beating down the door to play at APP. Looks like App is losing one...I'll let the good people of the YC look for it and watch the panic level go to 10 on here. Gotta go get my popcorn. This is gonna be better that Netflix tonight. Charles Wright is no...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….

Genuine question, because I truly have no idea. How much do say so do ‘our’ people having this hiring? Hopefully more than what I fear. The BOT can make a recommendation to the UNC BOG, but that's it. Exactly what I thought, and why I am not cutting backflips like some folks are. I do think the phr...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….

Whether you loved her, liked her or hated her, the fact of the matter is that she simply “lost the room” with some of her more recent initiatives. If concerns over her health are legitimate reasons for her hasty departure, then I wish her well and send prayers for those improvements.

Re: Second ever App state game

If interested. I’ve got two tickets in 212. Upper deck on the State side. I’ll sell them for what the school sells single game tickets for. Absolutely interested in that. If possible can I DM you over the weekend about them? Thank you for the offer! Absolutely. You can either DM me here or give me ...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

A hospital in Hickory with a big Block A followed by ppalchian State Medical Center would go a long way to providing NIL money. Just saying. ECU had a medical school. For that matter so does ETSU. Do you think we are behind them? Not an opinion...fact. East Carolina at 60 million we are at 38 milli...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

I understand that NIL is a problem and it is easy to assume that these kids are making the decisions to leave. Keep in mind that isn’t always the case and sometimes these decisions to leave are encouraged for the betterment of everyone. That is true and I believe many are thinking their playing day...

Re: Second ever App state game

I’ve been a lurker for a while but try to check the site semi regularly. Several of my cousins went to App State during the Armani Edwards years and when I went to their graduation I fell in love with Boone/blowing rock. Haven’t been back to a game since but want to take my future wife on our honey...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

I'd wager you are wrong. That this current system can't sustain or that power schools would have to be the ones to initiate change? That it can't (won't) be sustained. I don't like it either, but the money is there to be wasted in large power conferences. I don't think they view it as problematic l...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)

We are talking about amateur athletes getting paid $25-$100k (on top of a $25k scholarship and $6k stipend annually) to play in front of maybe 5k people and on ESPN+ with less than 30k viewers. I recommend reading that sentence out loud to realize how crazy and unsustainable this is for anyone outs...

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread

We are playing in the 4th best conference in baseball with one hand tied behind our back. Call it “loser’s mentality” if you must but we have a lot of real life obstacles that we have to deal with that other schools in our conference and region that don’t.

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach

I’ll just put it all out there. YOLO Marshall WBB went and spent 60k for two recruits through NIL. That’s 30k a pop. That’s the going rate. (Janay Sanders got 25k to go to Minnesota.) The Marshall AD rolled out the red carpet for her and prioritized WBB. Caldwell’s husband was given a job on the me...

Re: Angel steps down as WBB coach

Would those type of degrees necessarily lead to more,or larger donations? Looking at our peers and their Yosef Club equivalent donor arms, ECU has the medical school and Charlotte produces engineers and their donor bases are larger and don’t generate much more than App gets from its donor base.
