Re: Let’s talk Coordinators

Doubt we have a true OC. It might be like the same set up as before with the former staff. I imagine that Pete Thomas would be in line to Coach the QBs

I bet it is Joe Gibbs. I saw him in Boone on the field during the postgame activities following the Sunbelt Conference Championship. He even smiled and said hello back to me. I bet it is Joe Gibbs.
That would be the d’Etat of all Coups.

Tailgate starts as soon as we get to the Concord airport.

Allegiant Air, so pretty much the opposite.

Re: If Doug Gillin called you...

Well since DG isn’t calling Horton I guess I’ll change it up. Al Golden. He’s coaching TE’s in NFL now. He got a raw deal at Miami by trying to clean up that mess the right way and likely wasn’t the best fit. He has head coaching experience and runs a 3-4 defensive scheme. That one is intriguing.

Re: Josh Gattis

I don’t want that ass clown Houston either. Who do you want? I want a coach that meets three criteria. 1) he isn’t go to mess with the culture or identity of this team, 2) he isn’t going to mess with our defensive scheme. Doing so will set us back years as we will have to recruit and develop a diff...

Re: Two Gillin Gripes

It would be nice if DG could give us some sort of update, without names if need be, but some sort of reassurance the search is progressing well, if indeed it is. Something, anything would be nice. What do you want to hear? You gave his response in your comment. He isn’t going to tell you anything a...

Re: Josh Gattis

That is my point. He is currently successful as a first time OC with the best collection of talent available in football. He would be successful for the next two years with someone elses cultivated talent. He hasn't done anything on his own yet to annoint him as the next best HC. He may very well be...

Re: Josh Gattis

So just out of curiosity, what makes this guy so great? He has one year of OC exp. and that is as a Co. He took over play calling for a team so loaded with talent, that any play that he called was going to work. I mean he definitely would come with some risk. It would be a big step up for him, but ...

Re: Two Gillin Gripes

Good luck finding G5 schools getting a $2.1 million buyout when a coach's base salary is around $425k. Also tough to get $1.5 million when you're not paying close to that amount. JMU received $750k from ECU for Houston, which would have been bumped to $1M if he would have gone P5. Satterfields buyo...

Re: Two Gillin Gripes

To your first point, Gillen did have a short list but he also got a good bit of anticipated interest from outside candidates that needed to be taken into account. I for one am OK to sacrifice this early signing period if it means that we get the right coach.

Re: Josh Gattis

I wouldn't put to much stock in what FootballScoops is reporting. DG has a list of viable candidates that are interested in the position. There have been erroneous reports of who is interviewing and who is the front runner. I understand that we are all anxious to know who the next coach is going to ...

Re: Ledford

I honestly think it is going to be Horton ... Would be a horrendous hire. Honestly, all the remaining candidates we know of are pretty underwhelming. Ivey, Horton, Woody... none of those really excite me. I really hope there's something to the Josh Gattis rumors. And to clarify, Woody wouldn't be a...
