Re: Schedule

I would say to wait and see what happens. We are pretty full for the immediate future so this may be a situation where Wake may pay us to help pay someone else to move a game. For instance, and purely speculation on my part, but we have a road game with Wyoming in 2023. We may have to pay a penalty ...

Re: Schedule

They had a Home and Home with ODU already scheduled. I believe that the game this season was originally scheduled for Norfolk. They just flipped it.

Sucks. Really wanted that Wake game to happen while this group was together and we're the clear favorite. Any other ACC schools with an opening?
We aren’t going to get a P-5 to play us this year.

Re: Schedule

The Seniors would get waivers, but that doesn’t excuse the cost of the scholarship. Aside from the scholarship, you have to factor in all of the ancillary cost of attendance. Nutrition, academic support. Each full scholarship has a sticker cost of around $40k per student athlete. Multiply that by 25...

Re: Schedule

Well replacing our 2 games with say Charlotte and ECU would be ideal. Especially if we can’t keep Wake this year. I don’t mind a game against LR or GW, as long as it’s just one game. Non of the other NC ACC teams will not go out of their way to schedule us this year if they don’t have to. We aren’t...

Re: Schedule

ACC gets one OOC in state game. I know the App game is a revenue generator, but we’re in the middle of a pandemic. No other team they can schedule that will generate more revenue for them. If capacity is set at 50%, Groves holds 30,000 or a little more? I doubt students and season ticket holders ar...

Re: Schedule

I don’t think we play Wake this year. The game is too great of a revenue generator to play with limited capacity. I feel that it will get rescheduled.

Would you want to sit on AstroTurf for an afternoon game? I imagine that it is incredibly hot.

Re: NJCAA moves fall sports to spring

Spring football would not be good. Spring is when we heal from fall injuries. In my opinion we cannot have spring football then turn around and have fall football. What if a junior gets an ACL tear in May then they are done. It’s too hard to turn around. The best idea and it sucks is football witho...

I think that it should be more. Take out the travel cost that we won’t incur and pay us the difference.

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

What is so abnormal about this situation? They are playing games under the same conditions that are the cause for these OOC games to be canceled. They play G5 teams because it allows them to get home gate receipts. They aren’t going to get pay games with other P5. They are going to get home and homes.

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

Is the lack of need the case? Wisky grosses $3 mil per home game. A G5 cost them half of one game’s gate receipts and gets them 7 home games a year. A home and home with another P5 gets them travel expenses. And given the BIG’s mandate for no FCS, waters down the pool of options.

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

I think that you are focusing on end of world scenarios. It is simply a contract that wasn’t fulfilled. These issues should be settled out of court. But using your logic that a school like App could get blackballed for suing a P5 school; wouldn’t the same stigma be applied to a P5 that refuses to ho...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

I just signed up to test a vaccine. If I am chosen, does that mean that I can attend live sports? I thought about signing up, but based on what I read, I likely wouldn’t be chosen as I’m not high enough risk. I don’t have an underlying illness (that I know of), I have worked from home for 2 years s...

Only if it works and you're not in the control group. Where do I sign up? :-D

Re: Schedule Fillers

It’s not about filling holes. It is about creating holes for flexibility. Say we are scheduled to play Southern on the third Sat in September. Say they have an outbreak the week before. That game can be moved to another date and App can play an Ark St instead.

Re: Schedule Fillers

$250k I believe for Morgan St. As for Wake, the contract wasn’t fulfilled so there could be some financial retribution.
