Re: All Spring athletes get extra year

I should clarify. Women’s Tennis is the only “head count sport”. Meaning that each one gets a full ride. Meaning the rest have a set max, 11.5 for baseball to be split among the students. Doubtful that anyone in those sports are getting full rides. So in essence, anyone that finishes school in 4 yea...

Re: This stinks...

At APP we are at the point now where we don't rebuild, we just reload. We will be fine. A bit arrogant, but OK. We make our money with coaching and talent evaluation that is based on potential. Most of our higher graded recruits don’t make it through 4 years. If we get a situation with a bad hire, ...

Re: All Spring athletes get extra year

Baseball is a rare oddity when it comes to college. Draftability is a relatively loose term when it come to talent. Where you get drafted is affected by how much are you willing to sign for. Seniors really lose some leverage by exhausting their eligibility. Meaning that a team can offer a signing bo...

Re: This stinks...

I am not saying that we are replacing Seniors with equal or better players at all. We have some guys ready to step in, but until the whistle blows for real, we won’t know for certain if they are able to step up. You simply can’t replace two and three year starters and expect that we won’t skip a bea...

Re: All Spring athletes get extra year

I think this is an irresponsible decision by the NCAA. The NCAA is substantially cutting funding to schools and yet adding scholarship commitments at the same time. Fiscally impossible for most schools to do. Certainly a tough decision. I don’t disagree with you, and of course it will be compounded...

Re: All Spring athletes get extra year

Conceptual it’s the right thing to do, in reality it’s going to be tough to justify for many D1 programs fiscally. In another thread we are asking how many programs will cut sports because of this. Cutting sports isn’t likely the answer to solvency. The loss of sports will just as likely result in ...

I can’t imagine them carrying on with the show. Simply because of all the students gone. Weren’t there a ton of student tickets?

Re: Coronavirus Superthread

You are correct in the fact that people are dying at an alarming rate. No one is disputing that. No one, at least no one in the thread that you are quoting has suggested that this is no big deal. The issue being raised is a question of whether or not the overall panic and reaction with a shutdown of...

Re: Coronavirus Superthread

I hesitate to jump back in this thread. I ignored it for a while. This virus is obviously extremely bad, maybe more so than even I thought. It sounds like it may continue to get worse, before it’s better. I’m glad as a nation, we are taking the precautions we are. I still believe cutting travel off...

I don’t think that we recruited him so doubtful.

Re: Coronavirus Superthread

I don’t think that anyone is marginalizing death. It isn’t as simple as that. Death happens everyday due to activities that we take for granted and are often preventable when common sense is applied. I think the point that is being made is that the overall likelihood of dying from this is quite low...

Re: This stinks...

I have rewatched a few games over the last couple of week. Elijah was a difference maker. Played a really good game against UNC. We have some studs to replace. A lot of studs coming in to replace them as well. App's two-deep at ILB seems to be essentially inter-changeable. One thing we should thank...

Re: Extra year of eligibility for spring sports athletes vote

To me, the simplest solution is to give Seniors the option to participate in their respective sport at the same level of grant in aid provided in 2019/2020 and not have it count towards the max allowed. Fortunately for us, it doesn’t appear that we have any Senior female tennis players this year tha...

Re: COVID-19 AUCTION

Just noticed on TV where professional athletes are auctioning off signed apparel to raise money for COVID-19 relief assistance. It would be great if App. St. could arrange an auction of helmets, jerseys to raise money. I realize it may not be able to be signed by players due to one of the restricti...

Our front line guys are benefiting greatly from the NFL coaching.
