Overall play calling was uninspired, to be generous, and pretty crappy, to be honest.
When I correctly guess the play 4 out of 5 times, there is room for improvement. Glad for the win. Defense played great. Open up that offense just a bit more.

Re: CBS Sports G5 playoff
Playoff expansion to 8 teams is very likely to happen, and that opens the door for a G5 team. Will be 30 more years before a team not in today's P5 would stand a real chance of winning the natty, but it's something.

Re: Montgomery article on game
Brown is such a cry baby:
It was enough that Brown, without being asked, declared he would not speak about officials and risk Sun Belt discipline. “They had two touchdowns on a short field,” Brown said. “We have to go back and see how they got them and if they got them the right way.”

Don't want to see him go from App's perspective, but he deserves to cash in on a big payday. Would always rather have a coach that others want, than the guy that we want to see fired. Keep on winning coach!

Re: Statesboro
Been to Statesboro for multiple games. Never found their fans to be anything unusually negative. Have found if I make a specific effort to be friendly to folks, they are generally friendly back (at least in their main parking lot by the stadium). Not always true for drunk students, but can probably ...

Re: Funding - AppState is already cut to the bone and one of most efficient UNC schools
Before the financial crisis the UNC system was a bit bloated and the first few cuts were not that hurtful. As time has gone by the accumulated impact of years of cutting is troublesome. Harm is being done to the quality of higher education in NC. Can the system keep getting cut and still produce col...

I had heard there was bad blood between Reaves and Kiffen. Is that not so?

Re: MBB @ Beautiful Eagle Creek CC 7:30 PM ESPN3
I'll never, ever forget that Byington called a TO with 18 seconds left in the half with his team up 49-23. That's serious bush league. Kick 'em in the teeth while they're down and out stuff. That's to be remembered! I understand the frustration, but it was the FIRST HALF. It's more of a sad comment...

Re: Stink Bowl
Have to remember most BGSU assistant left with Dino to Syracuse. They are already gone, I think only a handful remain. Tough to prepare for a TO type team with a short deck. Not to take away from the Stink's domination just saying I think if Dino and his entire staff were still there it would be di...

Re: Fritz shopping around
Fritz is originally from the Midwest, and according to the USA Today database of coaching salaries Iowa State is paying the most recent coach $2.2 million per year (in the top 50 salaries in college football). The report does sound a bit odd, but Fritz is not likely to be a candidate for a top 25 jo...

Re: Thursday Games
To me, "putting academics first" pertains to our student athletes maintaining high classroom standards. It's a separate consideration. In the Spring semester these kids will miss a week of classes or more, and without the national media putting us on their stage. This is the first time Everts has d...

Re: Broyhill Inn to be demolished
Pretty confident that there will be more than just student housing, and the net usage of the land will far exceed a renovated Broyhill in terms of the overall positive impact on Appalachian. Give it time to play out.

Not a bad season at all, given the situation. Team really made a big positive push in these last 3 games. Give Fox some time and things could be very good. Proud of this team that never quit and pulled off several very big wins. Go Apps!

Sorry for getting the thread off topic. My post earlier was a 100% joke, in case some needed to have that spelled out and didn't read (or comprehend) my disclaimer. Regardless, let's get this thing turned back on where it is intended..... A complete trashing of "The Carolina Way".......... :o :P :o ...

How is being the most promising high school violinist in the country different from being the top high school quarterback in the country? No one will make a $10000 donation to watch the violinist play? (Just kidding, sort of. Don't any music majors hit me over the head with a violin for being...

We did what we did to remain competitive, and we will pay stipends as well. This accounts for less than 10% of the budget and we get over 1.2 million/year from the CFP. The SBC will be paying stipends. They are based on federal guidelines so there will be limits to what can be paid, and all confere...

Re: Pay to Play
Outstanding article. "But here’s the larger issue. If a university is dependant on defining itself as a major institution of higher education based on how “big time” its’ football program is, then it’s no longer in the education business. That school is in the entertainment business. And given the c...
