Re: Caption These Pics

I tend to agree with how it was handled. Had there been a penalty or negative play that put ULM in third and long, may have been different but stopping the clock on a very manageable third and five when ULM had scored touchdowns on their last two drives could definitely have backfired. If they get f...

Re: Why in Hades are We Playing

Unless I am mixing up the years, this game was part of the fallout from canceling the McNeese State series. App was originally scheduled to travel to Lake Charles and play McNeese this season, but the contract had a clause that it could be canceled if either school moved to the FBS level. Once App a...

Re: Sumler

I was able to get by and watch a little practice on Sunday and also after reading the 247 article with no mention of Sumler, I still wonder what is going on with him. He was running with 2nd team Sunday it appeared, but no targets in the 7 v 7 or 11 v 11 drills. If this has already been mentioned e...

Re: Question for AppState247 users

I, like many of you am on a budget and just wanted to know if you feel that the $107 and change per year is worth it for the App247 site ? Just let me know your thoughts. I really appreciate you looking into the site and figured I would add on to moehler and Saint's comments. Honestly, your interes...

Re: Recruiting, 2014/2015

I understand a pitcher from West Forsyth has signed with us. West and Richmond County are playing this weekend for the state 4A championship. Don't know his name but was told he will pitch the first game which is at 5:00 Friday afternoon. Travis Holden is the App commit. Initially with UNCA before ...

Re: Intangible in Recruiting

Quick comment to piggyback on moose's example about the coaches' recruiting trip to Alabama: In addition to sitting down with these kids and getting to have a conversation, they are also looking at their academic transcripts and talking to teachers, coaches, etc. who see them every day. Of course, y...

Re: Davidson, Game 3

I definitely agree that it will be several years before a comparison can be made. The true test of Jones and his staff will be how they can develop the kids they sign and it is just too early to tell with only one class of his recruits. However, from a pure talent standpoint, it is worth noting that...

Re: App -vs- GaSo 2014 Game on ESPNU

A Thursday game can makes things a little difficult but the two games in five days should be manageable. App has a bye week on 9/13, so they will have two full weeks off before the Southern Miss/GA Southern games and then a nine day layoff before they have to face South Alabama.

Re: Apps vs Kent State

Very nice win yesterday for the Apps. Kent State has a good team and is a very solid program. Been to the NCAA Tournament 5 of the last 7 years, CWS in 2012. Won 36 games and the MAC East regular season last year but didn't get an at-large. CofC would be a huge test today if the weather permits. Kid...

Re: "Thank you" lunch?

I have already discussed with a few board guys the idea of a "thank you" lunch for FIREMOOSE, CHARLIE, THE GUYS AT 247 AND ANYONE ELSE that contributed on the recruiting thread. I have mentioned having a lunch in Boone on a Saturday in the next 4-6 weeks for any board member that would like to "pit...

Re: Recruiting, 2014

I see that it has already been addressed a couple times (much appreciated) but I figured I would clarify first-hand as well. John and I (along with Brian at Rivals) are not compensated in any fashion by the university. All that Appalachian provides us is media credentials, which allow us to intervie...

Re: Recruiting, 2014

Huge pick-up for the staff, goes a long way in easing the loss of Rashad Canty. I've posted an article on AppNation247 about his commitment, which is non-subscriber content. Have on brief quote from him and will update once I get an in-depth interview: http://appalachianstate.247sports.com/Article/M...

Re: UNC-G @ AppState

For some encouraging news, Kedrick Flomo scored 41 points tonight in a North Forsyth win. Flomo is an excellent player. Great handles and can score in bunches. Biggest question is whether he will seek a release from his LOI if there is a coaching change as expected. If he doesn't, he is an immediat...

Re: Recruiting, 2014

What happened to Starks? He was redshirt last year and I have yet to see him dress this year. Starks was moved from WR to DB in the offseason, then suffered a season-ending knee injury in fall camp. Not sure if the coaches would consider moving him back to offense but it is a possibility. Unfortuna...

Re: Dayum

Just my $.02: This season has been the perfect storm between injuries, suspensions, inexperienced players, a first-time head coach, adjusting to a new defense and playing in a transitional season. Some games it has been special teams, some it has been defense and some it has been offense. The buildi...

Re: Recruiting, 2014

Firemoose was right on top of it. Got in touch with Emiere, who confirmed that he has indeed switched his commitment back to Georgia State. It was just a brief text message, no further details about why he switched but not terribly surprising. Since the time he verbally committed, the staff landed J...
