Re: Pro Ball in Boone Area?
I know down the mountain here in WS, they have started a indoor team. I didn't recognize many names on the roster, outside of Chase Blackburn(?), but it seems like there are quite a few names that a WS State fan would be familiar with. If the destination is Boone, I could see a bunch of former Mount...

Re: The Carolina Way (Cont'd)
Well, as a former App SA, you should know, and treasure, the value of having to go to class to earn your degree. And call BS on those who don't. Oh I certainly do. But back in our day, it was State who was well-known to have "crip classes" for athletes, but every school that recruited me back then,...

Re: The Carolina Way (Cont'd)
This is the string on here that I don't understand. Heck, we don't even have a thread like this about an actual rival. You guys are just giving these guys free rent while living in your heads. As a former App SA, I don't get it. Its their elitist attitude that their own crap doesn't stink. That the...

Blair getting some love
Ronald Blair getting some draft discussion from Mel Kiper and a possible destination in Charlotte. Mentioned among those from "rounds 2-4" in an extremely deep DE draft.

Re: John Settle..Flash from the past
86 was my last year in uniform before the injuries just became too much. I had a chance to suit up with some great guys. I was actually good friends with John's future wife before they met. He had a good pro carrer with the aforementioned Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl ring with the Redskins, though he w...

Here's the thing on free speech, it applies to everyone. If any poster says "I will provide the following speech (information) provided you do not limit my speech (ie violate my level of free speech by using that speech against my will or limitations I set)", then that poster has suffered a free spe...

Re: Recruiting Gripe Thread
Everyone can let it go now. Nothing to gripe about anymore anyway. Moose, I posted something on the "other" recruiting thread, but I just wanted to say Thank You and I think its unbelievably sad that this is the result. I APPRECIATE every ounce of effort you have put in and want you to know that th...

Re: Do you claim this guy ? ;)
I was one of those that didn't care if we went FBS or not. And I definitely was against the "Sun Belch", as I used to call it. I can admit when I was wrong. The Sun Belt is a much better conference than I anticipated and I am very glad we ended up here. The only ones that don't realize it are that o...

Re: Stink Bowl
Normally I'm pulling for the conference OOC everytime ... however, being the ONLY FBS team to WIN a bowl game in their first year of eligibility has a nice ring to it!

Re: NICE WIN!!
Griz fanbase is the one I have always respected the most. Class upon class. Heck if Idaho can be the "SunBelt" then so can Montana! I have to say I was one of the guys that didn't care one way or the other if we went FBS or not, but I am now 100% convinced it was the right thing to do. Even if we we...

Re: What's next for Appalachian State?
APPsolutely a great season! Next year it will very, very difficult to match this season's success. In the conference, StAte is losing Knighten, GaSo losing their starting QB, but Troy and a few others are improving. We should be the favorites but, as AVery Hall said on the post-game, the SunBelt wri...

I do remember a few posters on another site years ago complaining about AE during the '09 season. There is always someone.

Re: Oline and QB are real problems
Redshirt SOPHOMORE. (http://www.appstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=208646861&DB_OEM_ID=21500) He has two years left. Everyone's favorite player always seems to be the backup quarterback, very cliche. 11-2, best record ever in the SunBelt, 1st first-year FBS team to win a bowl game. I'm sorry...

With Nunn, Davante, Meadors and now McGuire out ... offense had to find some guys to step it up.

Re: Anyone know which ESPN crew is covering the game?
2 bad minutes really hurt! Plenty of time and the defense has played great. Just need to mix up the running plays a bit (they have that basic play covered) and get the play action going. Missing Meadors, Nunn, Davante, and McGuire on the O right now. Need the playmakers to step it up.

Re: CBS sports G5 All America Team
I really feel as if we stayed sorta static when we went to the FBS. The P5/G5 split is very real and I think its only a matter of time until it is more "official". I do not want a G5 playoff (though I do wish there was a REAL FBS playoff). Essentially we are the "new 1-AA" though I HATE to say that....

Ranking the Bowls
A very arbitrary look at all 40 bowls and ranked based upon, what appears to be, their potential "watchability". Camelia comes in at 13! Two behind GoDaddy with GaSo vs BG. ArkSt vs LaTech at 25. GaSt vs SJSU? Dead last, 40! Interesting. Looks like most pundits are predicting a 1-3 Bowl season for t...

Re: The Stink...Classless, As Usual
I have a good friend that played at the Stink when I was playing at App. He called me at my dorm, WAAAAAY before cellphones, and told me how awful their fans were during the games. I remember him telling me about when he saw one of his business professors throwing a drink at one of the Citadels play...
