Re: Early, but let's do it now
JMU was a scheduling loss. They weren’t a great team, but they were well rested. Rehashing the 2022 season as anything other than below average is intellectually dishonest. The more concerning thing to me is how many people write some variation of "This isn't the same Sun Belt that we dominated in ...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
Unbeatable? we lost to Georgia Southern. 2019 was a good year, but it does not compare to this past year. I bet we had more notoriety this past year than we did in 2019. This past year is a set up for even greater success in the future. Just like '04 and '93. Everyone talks about portal losses, but...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
Ponce making the calls on 3rd-4th and short will be the difference We were 38% on third down last year. 36% in 2021 with Ponce calling the plays. 51% in 2020 with the guy no one liked. Maybe the drop off can be attributed to the QB. We shall see. Those are really scary numbers. Hard to believe that...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
I agree with EastHall on the QB situation nowadays compared to in the past. I'm not worried about Burger or Aguilar. They'll have plenty of weapons in the backfield and WR's to get the ball to along with their added ability to scramble. The line play on both sides is where we need to see a differen...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
I actually don't think "inexperienced QB" is this automatic death knell some of y'all seem to think it is. The days of grooming a young QB for 3-4 years and hoping he thrives by the time he's a junior are long gone. You see freshman QBs excelling all over the country at every level, from national ti...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
Man appfanjj, you don’t want much huh? I get thats what you want to happen but with an inexperienced QB and question marks in several places, that’s probably not likely. Probably what’s likely is 8-4 maybe 9-3 and with several pieces returning for ‘24 then I’m more with you. I’ll take it but don’t ...

Re: Early, but let's do it now
I know people will take it as a cop out to not give a straight answer, but... it depends. Short answer is probably something like a minimum of 8-4. But I will personally also consider things like team health, how competitive we are week to week, and do we just generally appear to be back on the righ...

Re: Another haunt bites the dust
As for Portofino, it wasn't around when I was in school. I feel bad for folks who had lots of good memories there. It's how I felt about Murphy's, Klondike, the $1.50 theater, the downtown Boone Drug, etc. It was Savannah Joes for me. Katie's Pretzels was another for me. Relatively short-lived, but...

Re: Another haunt bites the dust
No college town ever stays the same, and the longer away folks get from graduation, the more they complain about it. Whenever you were at App, I'm sure it wasn't the same as it was 20 years earlier, and old grads then griped about it too. Don't get me wrong, it's sad to me too. But it's just inevita...

Re: How to buy tickets for the game at UNC?
I have seen no communication about away tickets. Hopefully just not on sale yet. I always get a little antsy since the first year we played at Charlotte and the first I heard of us selling tickets was at Yosef Spring Tour when Gillin told the crowd our allotment was almost sold out.

Re: Who is the 1st App to go this weekend?
Does Cam have to show ST value to grab a spot? While it would help, I don't think you bring Cam in if that's what you're looking for. He's just not going to bring that to the table, outside of maybe a tryout returning kickoffs (which is minimally valuable in the NFL anyway). Panthers have some room...

Re: Who is the 1st App to go this weekend?
It blows my mind each passing year as these players keep getting bigger, stronger, and faster. Hampton is listed 6'2" 236 lbs and is considered undersized for an LB. The top-rated OLB left is 6'2" 240 with the same comment. These dudes are rock walls. It's nuts that this is now undersized. I don't ...

Hampton will certainly be first. I would guess he'll be the only one drafted.

Not saying it couldn't happen, but I would not take it as a done deal based on a report from some radio guy I've never heard of.

Re: Bama vs NDSU
Honestly posting an "April Fools" joke before April 1 is kind of dumb and not how the whole thing works.
However, some headlines should trip your BS meter any day of the year.

Re: Spring Ball
Is last years team better than this years team on paper? I believe last years team was better on paper but underperformed. Hopefully the defense improves under the new DC! We have potential to be better, especially on defense. My guess is that Vegas will have us at a 7.5 projected win total. Last s...

Re: Spring Ball
It's so hard to project what's a realistic goal for this team. You have all the new starters. You have the new era of roster turnover everywhere. You have a lot of opponents in transition - how good will the 2nd year Sun Belt teams be? GS in year 2 under Helton? Coastal under a new coach? Will UNC b...
