Re: Is there a Friday night NOLA gathering?

I’m sure there will be a designated meetup spot Friday. As of now App’s official Bowl Central page has a placeholder for that night and says the location is TBD.

And yeah, if you just walk down Bourbon St, the party will find you. It doesn’t exactly stay indoors.

Re: NOLA Roll Call

Anyone know what’s the latest you can order game tickets and still ensure YC priority placement? Or did I already miss the deadline? I’ve got one person who’s uncertain whether he can make it and am hoping to wait until I know his decision.

Re: THE GAME

I felt they were basically on par with MTSU last year (lost by 20+ last week of the regular season, beat them by 2 in the title game). Given that plus their loss last week to FAU, I think it’s fair to say we’re much better than them. I don’t know more than that in detail, but I think as long as our ...

Re: NOLA Roll Call

I would love to go. Amtrak gets in at 7:30 Saturday night then leaves for a return trip at 7:00 the next morning. There would be no need for a hotel but I am a little nervous about being in the city from between 1 and 6 at night. Any suggestions? I’d actually be more worried about getting to the ga...

Re: Where to eat New Orleans

I feel like Willie’s needs more love on this thread. Sure there are lots of places for a great lunch or dinner, but can you go to those when it’s 1 am and you want something to soak up the hurricanes (while also ordering another hurricane)? Willies Chicken is unreal. Flavor and tenderness is ...

Cafe Pontalba
Olde Nola Cookery

A friend recommended Tujague's, but I didn't make it there last year.

Re: NOLA Roll Call

I enjoyed Cafe du Monde, but I'd definitely be up for trying something new - especially if it's less crowded. This might warrant a separate thread, but I'd be interested to hear what people's favorite (or non-favorite) spots were from last year or any previous experience. We had great meals at Cafe ...

Re: Bowl opponent musings

I don't think we'll have a letdown. I think we win big, but honestly I think the biggest danger for us is overconfidence. Not just because of the opponent, but because there could be a feel-good vibe now that Clark has been hired and I could see our players sort of thinking "we rolled over our oppon...

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer

Don't forget, just like over 2% of all FBS head coaches, he was a player on the 1995 undefeated App State team. Yea, but can he wear "The Visor"? :D It's time to retire the visor People were so desperate to find something unique about Drink. Somehow "The Visor" became some kind of signature, as if ...

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer

Clark has coached in the ACC (Louisville) and the B1G (Purdue). He coached the OL and was Associate HC at Kent State and holds those titles currently at App as well (prior to being interim HC). He did an outstanding job as the acting OC/play caller for the New Orleans Bowl last year. He has 20 year...

Re: NOLA Roll Call

I am in - hotel and flight booked. A bit bummed though, as my normal crew backed out and my family can't come, so I'll likely be flying solo. Hope to see some familiar faces at the App bar and around town.

Re: NOLA Official Bar and Info

Can't speak to this year, but last year the App fan HQ was Bourbon St. Drinkery. It's a good, two level spot with a balcony (and plenty of other fun stuff in the surrounding area, obviously. App's band played at halftime of the game. I would guess MTSU's too, but I don't recall for sure. I don't re...

Re: New Orleans Travel options—cost

I’m not seeing any direct flights from RDU. Anyone know if there’s a chance one gets added late? I remember Allegiant added the Thursday-Sunday direct flight apparently largely for App people last year, but I can’t recall how far in advance that happened.

Re: LT Conf Future

Still don't think there is any way we move to a current conf as it stands. It would take some major realignment and getting into a newly formed conf. Agree. Really hope it happens. Seemed like there was some increasing public discussion of such an idea a year or two ago, but I haven't heard a peep ...

Re: Doug Gillin?

Wish I would have seen this before I emailed him re: the coaching search tonight.

Definitely tough timing if so. Can’t wait on a new AD to hire a coach, but then the new coach has to work for an AD who didn’t hire him.
