Re: AP voter doubles down
I think there's a place for both computer rankings and human voters. Polls have their flaws, but I don't think one voter making a dumb oversight in week 2 completely invalidates the whole concept. Also, AI still makes a lot of basic mistakes, computer rankings are only as good as the humans who des...

Re: AP voter doubles down
Pretty awful video. Not the end of the world, but to just ramble on and laugh about it and say "I'm glad people are having fun with it" is a bad response. If she just said "my bad, guys - that was an oversight. I'll correct it on next week's ballot" then I think everyone would just move on. But a lo...

Re: Watching the UNC game and just threw up...
It's the title of a famous 2000s-era self-help book for women about recognizing and accepting when a guy you like doesn't like you back.

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
Would love to see us get some guys drafted in the middle rounds or earlier, too. Even though it's a double-edged sword because there's more pressure and scrutiny if you don't pan out. It was still cool when we had Evans and ADG going late 3rd/early 4th in the same draft, or Dexter Jackson/Armanti/Qu...

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
As far as definitions, they are having a similar argument on 247 about the likely outcome out going for it on 4th down. Some are saying likely is something that is 54% or 60% of the time when the reality is many view likely as mostly a sure thing, which 60% is not. Some people view things different...

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
To answer: I think most people can understand what I mean by "bigger contributors." That's not to say our guys who are on rosters aren't contributing at all. Obviously. I'm talking about regular starters. Guys who aren't at constant risk of being cut or sent to the practice squad. A Pro Bowler would...

Re: Apps In The Pros Mega Thread
Let’s not over exaggerate our presence, or lack thereof in the NFL. We aren’t, nor likely will we ever be churning out NFL contributors. I don't think the total number is so bad, but it would have been nice to produce at least a couple bigger contributors over the course of our run of success. Plen...

Re: Future Football Change
Beat the brakes off of Maine and avenge the 2011 34-12 loss I had to endure as my final football game as a student! I remember watching that one at a sports bar. Or at least part of it. An otherwise forgettable day to be sure, but my recollection is that was the day I realized we really had slipped...

Re: UNC Holes ideas for finding money for players
It sucks, but this is where "college" sports is. They certainly won't be the only ones doing a lot of this stuff.

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
One aspect of the “pay the poor abused players” argument that kills me is that blanket assumption that schools have made “billions” off of these indentured servants. Zero of them has ever been forced to play a sport and I seriously doubt that outside of maybe 40 schools the rest have either operate...

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
Most people don’t have App State at the top of their career aspirations. I don’t think that’s a bad thing to say. I would rather have a head coach who does not see us as their career dream job than one that does. It means they see the value in coming to App and will work diligently to make the prog...

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
Agree it was the author, not Loggains making that Arkansas reference. Now that I think about it, It appears that most Alumni don’t actually work out as HC. Maybe it is the pressure, internally and externally, that creates the rifts. But most coaching hires don't work out, period. Do alumni do worse...

Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article
While I don't doubt Loggains, like most coaches, would look to move on to a bigger job if given the opportunity, I didn't see him say anything like that in the article. The author himself made a few comparisons to other jobs, and then awkwardly inserted the line about "one day maybe he'll finally ge...

Re: 2025 Football Schedule updates
As previously noted, I have major issues with the direction of college athletics, going well beyond unregulated pay-for-play and unlimited transfers (mostly falling under the broad umbrella of TV networks owning and operating the sports). Nonetheless, I'm glad to see App will once again have plenty ...

Re: FB Play By Play 2025
He did. I believe it was the year after he graduated. From what I heard, he was pretty green, understandably. Tended to talk about the players like his buddies (which, of course, they were) rather than a team he was covering. Perhaps the additional distance of being a few years removed would help hi...
