Re: Is the inevitable being postponed?

I see two scenarios. 1. They cancel and be done with it. 2. They start and within a matter of weeks its over because of the outbreaks that will happen. Unfortunately, I agree. I do have moderately more hope should they postpone football until spring, only because there’s at least a chance we’ll hav...

Re: Schedule Fillers

Can't see any FBS conference playing OOC games at this point.

But if we did, obviously nearby teams that we can reach by a short bus ride would be ideal... hey, maybe we can schedule Wake Forest!

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

I'll go with the answers that prioritize health and wellbeing over business and profits, just to keep it simple. That’s a cop out answer at this point, because every bit of it is completely intertwined. It’s not necessarily prioritizing business and profits when you look at it from a “being able to...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

Herd immunity and a soft response has been tried in Sweden and the virus by all accounts has been a certified failure. Also, it's possible to get the virus more than once. Being OK with young people being more at risk for the virus because of their perceived health is, quite frankly horrifying. The...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

Big 10 conference games only. We are gonna lose our ass. Bad for us to be sure, but many others will be in the same boat. Chris Vannini from The Athletic just mentioned in particular how much this will hammer the MAC financially; most of those teams schedule three money games, many against the B1G....

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

There are such things as false positives and false negatives, to varying levels depending on the test (as I understand it). That's no breaking news. People are trying to develop and mass-produce these tests as quickly as possible, and while a result like that is understandably frustrating for the in...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

My guess is that IF there is football at all, it will be conference only games either in the fall or the spring. We will be lucky if we get that. We'll probably get down to that at some point, with severely limited attendance. My worry is then that we'll have continued cancellations, large numbers ...

Let’s be real: All the games are in jeopardy. OOC are just first on the chopping block.

Re: Spring 2021 Football?

No doubt that a Spring season would make it difficult on the players next Fall. I'll let the guys with experience playing college football speak to that. Regarding the draft, if the NFL will not postpone the draft date, I wonder if the NCAA would grant a waiver allowing the players to continue play...

Re: Spring 2021 Football?

How do you play in the spring and then again in the fall? I know this will be a valid question, but I wonder if it’s not doable. I mean teams that make the Stanley Cup finals play until mid-June and then start training camp 3 months later. Different sport obviously, but arguably just as violent and...

Re: SI leagues realignment's

One major issue here is giving an auto bid to every league when there are some major imbalances AND you practically eliminate OOC play. I mean that Yankee Conference is Penn State and the 11 Dwarves (including the aforementioned UMass AND UConn, another one that might drop down soon anyway). The "Mi...

Re: SI leagues realignment's

I agree that, he at least gets credit for being creative, but how do GSU, ODU, Charlotte several others (most MAC programs) make the cut while Troy gets relegated? That makes no sense at all. I would also hate not having Georgia Southern in our conference. I almost stopped reading when I saw that a...

Re: SI leagues realignment's

I'll give him credit for at least being creative. There are plenty of major issues with this idea, but I admit I'm intrigued by the core idea of no longer having "power conferences" and just having 10 different regional leagues of *theoretically* similar strength. Of course, as he notes, that's also...

Re: FALL 21 QB?

It never ceases to amaze me how some guys on this board can watch some limited high school highlights and then make a determination either way as to whether a kid will or won’t play, particularly at QB. Have we ever had a dude like DBG at QB? I personally will let our coaches make the call. I agree...

Yes. In the mix at ILB. Lot of competition there, though.

Re: FALL 21 QB?

If the QB recruit we have early enrolls he may get a shot too. I think it’ll be an open competition next year not just between a Shuler and DBG. We could look at grad transfer options as well. Definitely. Two QB recruits, actually. As long as we’re taking wild guesses, I’ll pick Tabscott to win the...

Re: Break out player for 2020?

I'm classifying it as "break out" because I think that he's going into the season without being talked about too much and is probably changing positions, but Nick Ross has the ability to take over the defensive backfield even if moved to safety like being rumored (though I think Ross and Jolly at t...
