Re: Matt McMahon

As noted, the question of why we didn't hire him is well-worn ground, but I AM glad to see him doing well. He did have a so-so first couple years (this is his third year, not his second), but seems to be really breaking out now. Hopefully they win their conference tourney. I'd love to see him in the...

Re: The Quarterbacks

I love that we are debating whether to bench the starting QB when 1) it's spring practice and 2) we don't officially HAVE a starting QB yet.

Re: Troy at Home

1 year extension seems like a safe play. As long as they don't lose out. Seems reasonable. I understand the rationale of a coach not being able to recruit with no contract. OTOH, you just can't commit another long-term deal yet based on what we've seen. Now, go win the Sun Belt tourney and we can r...

Re: App @ Texas A&M in 2022

Home - North Carolina, Akron Away - Marshall, Texas A&M I'm assuming the A&M game will be scheduled for September 10th? Yes, and we're no longer listing Akron: http://www.appstatesports.com/news/2018/2/16/app-state-announces-2022-football-game-at-texas-am.aspx And I'm with you - it's a paycheck, an...

Re: End Zone project moving forward...

I’m with you on the number of permanent seats, 30K max. I would move the hill closer but make it larger with teired seating with SRO at the base to allow for adequate site lines. . My only question would be was the current video board placed where it is done strategically? It seems that it would be...

Re: End Zone project moving forward...

My point is... That outside of the big games we average 20k to 22k and since the story notes a continuation of decline in college football attendance; that adding luxury seats and stadium amenities as we are preparing to do appears to be the most prudent measure. Many who share ideas here believe t...

I'm almost certain we'll win the sun belt and then barely lose to UVA in the NCAA championship game. Almost certain.
Obviously a lot of ball left to be played, but it is hard to envision a scenario in which we do not make the Final Four.

We are now one game out of third place, and we’ll likely be favored in all five of our remaining games. Wow.
We're one game in either direction from third and tenth right now.

OK fine but we've been within a game of 10th for eight years. Focus on the new!

Re: The Quarterbacks

What I don't get is if ZT has such a live arm, why didn't he ever get a chance to show it in the limited time he saw the field? Whenever he was in, we never went deep. I know it was mop up time but still, let the kids play and show what they got. Just not Satt's philosophy I don't think. We're run-...

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes

If you lose to someone like UMass and can't beat a P5 team like Wake, you ain't getting no votes. Destroying Tulane was the perfect way to finish, but you're going no where if you can't beat a P5 team. Next season will be a rebuilding one, so I don't see us nowhere close to top 25. Can still win Su...

Re: MBB App State @ Texas State

On the one hand, obviously I'd like to win as many games and finish as high as possible. On the other, I'm not sure the 6th seed wouldn't be a better spot than the 4th. I think it might be worth having to play an extra game in exchange for not being on UL's side of the bracket.

Re: Will JMU Regret Not Jumping to Sunbelt?

GameDay in Boone would be cool one day. The reality is that they do one FCS site per year but rarely do G5, and if they do it's probably a service academy or breakout team like Houston (I didn't check my records on this). FCS sites give them that "little guy" change of pace feel; G5 are too big for ...

Re: Will JMU Regret Not Jumping to Sunbelt?

If their goal is to be FBS, then they should be regretting it already. Of course the level of success they’ve had the past couple of years in FCS could certainly make them happy where they are. I’m glad we’re in FBS now but also glad we didn’t jump before we won those titles.

Re: Taylor at USC

Good spot for him. Although I was hoping you meant the real USC, I figured South Carolina was more likely. ;-) At least he's at the real Carolina Poor South Carolina, they're not the real USC, they're not the real Carolina, they get labeled on ESPN as SCAR and that's just hilarious. Re: Mountaineers and the NFL Draft

I also wonder about Stringer. He's obviously more physically suited to play safety in the pros, and I do think he has the speed/strength numbers to do it, but does he have the coverage skills to make that transition?

Re: Mountaineers and the NFL Draft

I would guess Boggs' workout will be big for him. Production is obviously there and he's big enough - how will he test in speed/agility?

As for Duck, I could see him as a nickel corner in the NFL.

Re: Fox

I thought we should have hired or at least made a run at Matt McMahon. Obviously, that was not in the cards. If it doesn't work out for Fox (and I hope it does), is there even a small chance Matt would talk to us or has that ship sailed for good? It wouldn't be Charlie Cobb calling so he'd listen. ...
