Re: QB Recruit

I think it's an open competition for sure. As far as redshirting, that's likely for any freshman QB IF he doesn't win the job. It's just not a spot where a backup can earn enough meaningful playing time to warrant burning a year of eligibility. But I'd say Tabscott and any other QB we sign this year...

Re: Finally VERY good news in these time

Only on our message board would we talk sh*t about a recruit coming in. Yes we have lots of Charlie hustle guys who’ve done well but who wouldn’t want a highly recruited kid? Yes a lot of guys were rated highly and didn’t pan out but there sure are a lot all over the country that did pan out. How s...

Re: Finally VERY good news in these time

Just so we're all clear, Pinckney redshirted last season, so he'll be a RS sophomore in 2021 regardless of whether he plays in 2020. Doesn't sound like there's any reason to think he would be eligible this year, though.

Re: This stinks...

As for App, we should be fine at DE. Four returning seniors with loads of experience and production. If anything we need to free up some snaps for younger guys. Plenty of talent at safety and ILB too. Replacing ADG is a concern but I'm confident in Brown and Harrington. Interesting comment earlier a...

Re: This stinks...

At APP we are at the point now where we don't rebuild, we just reload. We will be fine. A bit arrogant, but OK. We make our money with coaching and talent evaluation that is based on potential. Most of our higher graded recruits don’t make it through 4 years. If we get a situation with a bad hire, ...

Re: Hints at Next Season

I mean, I don’t want a roster full of jucos, but we’re at the other extreme now. We just had our first decent team in a decade, but still were nowhere close to winning the league. Maybe a little desperation would be appropriate? How many teams like Little Rock have managed one or two amazing years w...

Re: Hints at Next Season

NC State has become the third in-state program to offer Wertz...joining App State and UNCC. This young man has spent his entire life enrolled in private schools. Santa Clara enrolls about 5,500. I dunno if all these 20,000 and up state U's will have a comfy feel to him. Then again, maybe he's in se...

Re: Hints at Next Season

Pretty solid group of guards. But I think the lack of size will be a problem, unless someone can step up unexpectedly.

Don't think we'll see much of Bibby.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020

If anyone is surprised by a mid-week game the season after you finish in the top 3 in the standings they aren't paying attention. We are in a G5 conference, all of those conferences are contractually obligated to have 5-10 mid-week games. The SBC must have 2 Wednesday night games and 5 Thursday nig...

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020

All things considered, the schedule could be a lot worse. I really see no surprises. How could they be a lot worse? A home Wednesday night game and a subsequent Wednesday night away game. IMO the only way it could be worse is if the GSU game came on a short week, but they still have 4 more days to ...

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020

Funny, my first reactions were - Cool, finally a full week to prep for GS. - A-State on a Saturday for Homecoming is a must-attend. - Only one non-Saturday home game, about the best you can hope for given that we're the league's flagship program now. Guess I need to work on my martyr complex if I wa...

Re: ESPN Pre-Season Top 25

tl;dr: Being in the AP/coaches preseason top 25 helps you wind up higher in those respective polls. It doesn’t necessarily help with the NY6 because the CFP consistently does not mirror the other polls, specifically in the way it treats G5s and other “non-brand name” programs. The offseason rankings...

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped

Guys 40k on a Thursday would be a homerun. Agree with this, and honestly I'm not sure it would have been much more than that on a Saturday. Maybe 45-50K. Now if they offer some giveaways, discounts etc. to get butts in the seats, then who knows. But I don't get the impression they've done that for ...

Re: MBB: Troy at App 4:00 pm; Three To Go--All "Must Wins"

Kudos to everyone for figuring out the tiebreakers, but it's too much for me to try and follow right now. If you tell me App will finish 18-13 (12-8), I'll take it all day and let the chips fall where they may in terms of seeding. (I realize this post adds basically zero to the thread, I just wanted...

He’s not exactly under the radar, but if Nick Hampton can make the transition from pass rush specialist to every-down player, he could be a monster.

Re: CLASSLESS JERK!!!!!!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with holding a high standard for behavior and sportsmanship, but this does appear to be a bit of an over reaction. This type of taunting is status quo for sports. The truly unfortunate part is that we don't fill up the arena enough to drown them out. Hopefully we continue to g...

Re: 2020 Depth chart

So? Are we to assume Indiana’s players are better than ours? Dabo Swinney’s sons play at a P5 too, doesn’t mean they are any good. I’ll stick with Cobb and Jackson inside. Talking about showing support for all mountaineers. Damn, Ted Roof hurt you that badly? Nope just concerned about nepotism play...
