Re: SI leagues realignment's

One major issue here is giving an auto bid to every league when there are some major imbalances AND you practically eliminate OOC play. I mean that Yankee Conference is Penn State and the 11 Dwarves (including the aforementioned UMass AND UConn, another one that might drop down soon anyway). The "Mi...

Re: SI leagues realignment's

I agree that, he at least gets credit for being creative, but how do GSU, ODU, Charlotte several others (most MAC programs) make the cut while Troy gets relegated? That makes no sense at all. I would also hate not having Georgia Southern in our conference. I almost stopped reading when I saw that a...

Re: SI leagues realignment's

I'll give him credit for at least being creative. There are plenty of major issues with this idea, but I admit I'm intrigued by the core idea of no longer having "power conferences" and just having 10 different regional leagues of *theoretically* similar strength. Of course, as he notes, that's also...

Re: FALL 21 QB?

It never ceases to amaze me how some guys on this board can watch some limited high school highlights and then make a determination either way as to whether a kid will or won’t play, particularly at QB. Have we ever had a dude like DBG at QB? I personally will let our coaches make the call. I agree...

Yes. In the mix at ILB. Lot of competition there, though.

Re: FALL 21 QB?

If the QB recruit we have early enrolls he may get a shot too. I think it’ll be an open competition next year not just between a Shuler and DBG. We could look at grad transfer options as well. Definitely. Two QB recruits, actually. As long as we’re taking wild guesses, I’ll pick Tabscott to win the...

Re: FALL 21 QB?

I expect to beat ECU until I see a reason to think otherwise. Right now our rebuilding years are better than their best years. Obviously that could change but until it does...

Re: Break out player for 2020?

I'm classifying it as "break out" because I think that he's going into the season without being talked about too much and is probably changing positions, but Nick Ross has the ability to take over the defensive backfield even if moved to safety like being rumored (though I think Ross and Jolly at t...

Re: FALL 21 QB?

It is interesting that most of you freely assume that DBG is #3. The #3 spot will play itself out over time, but DBG and Shuler have had the same amount of time in Peterson and Clark’s system. I would also add Gibbs and Wilson to the conversation. Ideally, you would like to see both Shuler and DBG ...

Re: FALL 21 QB?

I think the point of this thread was to have some fun speculating as a fan. Why take that fun away from us? Speculate away! I read “has anyone heard” in the OP as asking if there was any current info or even rumors out there. Also he asked about 2nd string this year, which is the one part of the qu...

No harm seeking feedback. But honestly these decisions need to be made based on public health more than fans’ opinions.

Re: FALL 21 QB?

Second 94's post, and I'll add that barring something unforeseen this fall, we likely won't even begin to sort out who the '21 starter will be until at least next spring. Not much you can really learn with two of the possible candidates holding clipboards this year and the other two still in high sc...

That video is how I remember it - from the band walking up to the stadium. I like it as well. Don’t remember it in-stadium but I could well have just blanked on it.

We’ve been putting “APPSTATE” on apparel for more than a decade, in the bowl end zones the last two years, and this thread is literally the first time I’ve ever heard anyone compare it to Subway.

Re: G5 Football Coaching Tiers

Think about it like this: If a coach with no previous ties to either school were offered the job at both school A and school B, which would he likely take? Every school in the top two tiers can basically pay 3x what we can; that alone is usually going to be too much to overcome. I could argue with a...

Re: G5 Football Coaching Tiers

They explain the methodology in the article. I don't want to steal the whole thing, but it's about what you'd expect - a mix of coach salaries, facilities, recruiting ground, fan support, history of success, etc. The blurb on App is pretty spot-on I thought. Basically said our on-field performance w...

Re: 247 Preseason Top 25

I chirped Bud Elliot about not even receiving votes on Twitter and he did respond. Said these were more “power rankings” than the traditional top 25. Also said he didn’t believe we should have finished in the top 20 last year, he and a lot of the 247 guys put a lot of stock into the schedule, and i...

Re: 247 Preseason Top 25

That's pretty bad, but it's also not a poll anyone actually cares about. I'm sure we'll get plenty of votes when the real polls come out in August. My guess is we'll start out right around the fringe of the rankings.
