Re: FALL 21 QB?

The App bookstore sold a shirt in 95 that said “we don’t rebuild, we reload”. That still seems to be the case today, with the slight anomalies being coaching and system changes.

And we still have 2 available scholarships if Kerns decides to use them this year.

I suppose the turn that this thread has taken would make it more suitable for the lodge.

Re: Hints at Next Season

I realize the need to rely on Jucos when you need an immediate fix but I hope we don't become overly reliant on that source, it smacks of desperation. I remember Coach Fox saying that he couldn’t rely much on jucos, I think because of the academic expectations at App Of incoming athletes. So, I don...

Re: Hints at Next Season

Tharrington is transferring Best of luck to him. Kerns probably should go after two PG's with his 3 remaining spots. One of the JuCo guys and a high schooler he likes and can develop. I agree. Sign the best JuCo PG he can find to run his system immediately. Sign the best prep PG available to be dev...

Re: Hints at Next Season

We won't have a point guard , or a center ...not in any traditional sense. Position-less basketball. We’ve offered 2 juco point guards (Jalen Finch and Jalen Moore). Finch is from Raleigh and has offers from us and coastal. Moore is from Indiana and has offers from several mid majors. That doesn't ...

Re: Hints at Next Season

Wertz would start immediately for us when eligible. He's been one of the two best Gaels in his two seasons on the left coast and made honorable mention all-WCC this season. The kid averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season while posting a 1.6-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He hit ...

Re: Hints at Next Season

Bibby has never even looked much like a D1 player at App to me. The only players I see starting out of the returners are Forrest, Delph, and K. Lewis. Kendall could emerge as one of the better players in the conference. My hunch is that we see a lot of Huntley and maybe Eads next season. Huntley is ...

Re: Game Thread: MBB @ Texas State (San Mahhhhvelous)

Next year is going to be interesting. Kern will earn his dollars. No good incoming recruits, already a decommitment, and have to replace 3 starters??? Good luck with that Kern. Already heard rumblings he’s trying to go elsewhere. He should thank Ike, O, Justin, and the other seniors for making him ...

Re: Likely Tournament Path

Yah agreed that this year has been fantastic. We missed out on a double-bye by a single game. The only published odds I see put app at 40:1 so I'll take my handicapping medal please :P Notably though we've struggled with various injuries the last couple months and I firmly believe that this team wh...

Re: Be Thankful for Dustin Kerns

just noticed that we picked up a PG commit out of Texas...Jordan Ivy-Curry. I didn't see any other offers, but he looks to be a really good ball handler. We now have a PG, a wing, and a 6'10" forward coming in next year. I would imagine that a big banger to replace Seacat is now a big priority. The ...

Re: Buckle up. Knuckle up.

USA is a veteran team, and was predicted to win the league this year. They seem to be getting into their groove at the right time, winning 5 in a row now. I saw several teams last night that could win the SB tourney. Aside from USA, UTA looked good in their victory over Ga State, and Tx State was do...

Re: UNC - Coach Williams Translation

Roy plays one offense...run, run, run. He does not change his style to match his players. And that's why he's not that great of a coach. Great coaches use the players strengths they have. It’s called the secondary break. It has always been Roy’s bread and butter. It’s not that hard to figure out if...

Ga State did lose to Troy at home a couple weeks back, so they are not invincible in ATL.

Re: Finish Strong 2 seed possible

Unless we find some post players we aren’t going to be better next year. CJ Huntley, our recruit from Davidson Day is 6’10” and has a huge upside from what I’ve seen. He might be more of a stretch 4 player though. My guess is that if we don’t land a freshmen post player, we will bring in a juco who...

Re: MBB: App State @ UA-Little Rock 3PM TV/ESPN+

What happened to our stout defense? We have a certain wing player that makes quite a few low IQ plays and then hangs his head. That’s one thing I’ve noticed is that we haven’t quite gotten over some of the body language issues from the last few years when things don’t go well. It’s a work in progre...

Re: MBB: App State @ UA-Little Rock 3PM TV/ESPN+

Little Rock is good, but a few rotations on defense could have made this a more favorable outcome for us. I’ve never seen an App team shoot 70%. Williams shot 100% on 7-7 and 3-3 from deep. Several others only missed one shot. Of course, LR shot pretty darn well too.
