Re: MBB: GaSou @ App State 3:30 PM HCC

Honestly I have basically tuned out App MBB due to the total lack of success. I avidly follow and attend football for last 35+ yrs but just can't get excited about basketball because of our terrible year over year performance. That is why I rarely post about MBB. The question many have posed is what...

Re: Final AP

Overall, we under performed for the season based on expectations and our team's capabilities. Barely beating several very weak teams and losing to two (UMass/ULM). We played down a lot. The team did a good job of salvaging some good things out of season (i.e. SBC Co-Champion, complete demolition of ...

Re: Final AP Poll.... No votes

I am not surprised. Our body of work for 2017 included one signature win in bowl. All our wins were against extremely weak opponents. Neutral observers just see us under perform against an overall VERY weak schedule. I said this throughout the season, we were barely beating weak opponents and lost t...

Re: UCF big win for g5

UCF success also highlights why App should take NY6 bowl seriously. Some fans on this board poo pooed the people who were disappointed that we underperformed this year overall. Don’t get me wrong we salvaged season and finished strong and I am very proud of that. But UCF going from 0-12 to 13-0 winn...

[quote=Apptrain post_id=162020 time=1514941095 user_id=7039] Radical idea that will never happen. Dissolve all current fbs conferences. Make new conferences out of all fbs teams by geography, with no consideration as to who they are. That would level the playing field f...

Georgia State and Troy with convincing wins already. How many times do we have to do well in bowl season to gain respect?
Bowl performance is great but we need strong regular season OOC records to match.

Re: Karl Benson on G5 playoff

Creating a G5 playoff would be the first step in recreating I-AA/FCS all over again. We absolutely don't want to go down that road. Our only hope is to get CFB Playoffs expanded to 8 teams with a guaranteed G5 spot. Yes, this is probably not going to happen and folks can say even if it happened the ...

It's not our primary sport. Fans are apathetic to basketball at App.
I really hate both those statements because if we did have a successful program we would have fan support and then nobody could say "It's not our primary sport". We could have both Football and Basketball as serious sports.

Re: Dollar General comments: ASU vs Toledo

The articles bitches about location a lot and a backhanded complaint about opponent. He then says MAC bowl tie ins are bad but acknowledges MAC bowl performance is awful recently and for past decade not to say how bad MAC attendance is. He wants MAC to get a premium location against a P5 but without...

We have not upset a single opponent this year nor for some time. Time to step up our game and play like we are capable of playing.

So they're going to hurt attendance, freeze the people who do show up, force people to get hotels on short notice AND conflict with a basketball game down the street. But on the plus side, just imagine all the viewers we'll get on ESPN2! Oh wait... schedule.JPG Great attitude. I guess that is also ...

Re: Oh Ye - Of So Little Faith ---

What is always the #1 goal of any team is to be CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS I beg to differ on this. Ask Coach K, Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, all SEC coaches, etc., etc., etc. All premier programs will ALL say, yes we want to win our conference BUT their #1 goal is to win the NC. Our goal was to get to NY6. ...

Re: '17 APP Football - IF WE KNEW THEN WHAT WE KNOW NOW ---

My expectations would not be 11-1. However, I would expect our players to play 60 minutes for most games regardless and be more disciplined on the field. We have not done that in ANY SB game yet nor the UMass game and I don't expect it to change for the rest of the season based on the 9 games to date.

Re: OK you guys - BOOKMARK THIS THREAD

Here is a great example of bad tackling technique. Last year against Miami, on the first offensive play from scrimmage, it wasn't a bad angle when AJ Howard directly hit RB Walton with his shoulder at line of scrimmage at a good angle and then failed to wrap him up. Walton basically bounced off him ...
