Re: Say "So Long" to the ACC
It’s absolutely a risk. But what’s riskier - chasing the money you want or watching Rutgers and Vanderbilt get $30 million more per year? We’ve all known for years what schools drag the ACC down athletically and provide no value. Breaking away is how the 7, 8, 9 shed the dead weight. Everyone knows...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
It's hard to imagine any college baseball player getting what would be considered "huge" NIL money. I've read that a great majority of college baseball teams lose money. Even using a simple calculation of 13 scholarships at $30k per year that's about $400k then add in coaching salaries and travel co...

Re: Another haunt bites the dust
Dont forget PB Scotts and the Bavarian Inn (BI)! You know your old when..a restaurant or bar is gone and it came after your time. Mother Fletchers, Antlers, PB Scott's. We used to hit that little spot near the Green Park Inn on Friday afternoon. It was on the right heading out of BR and was basical...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
I would say that considering the fact that our team ERA is over 8 per game and unless it went down Sunday we were next to last in the Belt. I'm willing to bet that none of the top 50 in the RPI have staffs who have those types of numbers. Just score one more run than you allow baby!

I have always liked DR but I think most of his songs are basically the same. Most of the instrumental sounds exactly alike.

Re: The incredible shrinking future of college
I'm sure that these statistics are out there but I'd be curious to see a breakdown (say over the last 20 years) of people currently around 42 (putting the average 20 years out of college) who either got a job with their chosen degree or otherwise went a different path. I'd also like to see the numbe...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
I think that expectations in many college and pro sports has gotten ridiculous. At least 2 very good NBA coaches were fired recently after taking their team to the freaking playoffs. College coaches would love to recruit and develop their team and heaven forbid actually redshirt or sit a freshman b...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Just looked at team stats. Pretty remarkable to be in this position with a staff ERA over 8 runs a game. We are next to last. Guess as long as you score 1 run more than you allow it's all good.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
That 0-2 sweep at home to ULM really hurts. And that last game of the series which was cancelled could have helped us a good bit or could have sunk us in the standings. Looks like South Alabama got a few wins over some of the upper teams so some of that stuff levels out. We appear to be the only "c...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
It's really amazing how much shuffling can happen next weekend. Some teams could go into Sunday with nothing to play for and some could go up or down several slots with a win or loss. It's going to be a wild 3 days. It looks like a team could go from 4th to 9th or maybe even 10th or the other way wi...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
If I did my math correctly a sweep of Troy and a sweep by Southern Miss over La means 3rd place. We win 2 of 3 and it's 4th. I'm not talking about any other scenario

Re: Tampering Article in The Athletic
I was curious and went through the entire draft. I counted 34 players drafted from non P5 conferences. I included any Cincinnati players with the P5 side. Basically about 15% of the drafted players are non P5. I'd suspect that percentage is roughly the same every season. Is that high enough to use a...

Re: Tampering Article in The Athletic
We all watched the upward progression for App football over the years. We had our share of wins over Wake but honestly for the most part they were a glorified G5 team most years back in the day. I remember going to a game at SC in the 80's. If I recall we played them tough but lost. Those close but ...

Re: The incredible shrinking future of college
It's always nice to see the posts showing the athletes (football today) who graduated and I wish them well and hope they are successful in their lives but at the same time you have to wonder what some will do with particular degrees. Our two youngest are now juniors and are starting to focus on thei...

Re: The incredible shrinking future of college
Those earnings numbers are very telling and interesting. I've always believed that a majority of college in general is a waste and a racket. For years the mantra has been to make a person "well rounded ". That's a load of BS. Assuming that an 18 year old graduates high school and is proficient at re...

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Looked at the results from the Ark State games, particularly conference games. In a few of their wins they scored a bunch of runs. If Hamilton does his thing on Friday night we might have to outlast them on the weekend. Kind of a common theme I know. We absolutely can't have a stinker this weekend a...
