Re: College basketball style of play

So, the post-up shot in basketball is the equivalent of the run up the middle in football. I guess you have to do it in order to keep the defense honest, but it shouldn't be your bread and butter. That's basically what I get out of this. It's an interesting analysis, but I doubt it can be applied w...

Re: football love from virginia loss

Typically a huge underdog in the tournament comes out blazing as they have zero to lose and are just ecstatic to be there. In most cases the big dog cools off and settles into the inevitable reality and gets beat. In this case UMBC caught fire, realized that they could play with UVA and put them awa...

Re: College basketball style of play

Looks at stats from UNCG first round game. Teams combined for something like 8 for 45 from 3. How much coaching does it take to play that way?

Re: App and South Carolina Schedule Series

I was at the game last time we played down in Columbia. If memory serves they barely beat us. We were happy but those Gamecock fans were unbearable. It depends on what you call close. The last time we played them, we lost 35-9 in 1988. We beat them 39-34 in 1975, the same year we beat them, Wake an...

I like the Dontari Poe signing, helps make up for Lotulelei.
Huge pickup and big upgrade over Star. I often wondered if the guy was even close playing

Re: SI Loves Them Some App State

Obviously our win at Michigan was and probably still is the biggest upset in college football history. Who would be second? In my mind in order for a game to come under this consideration the big opponent would have to finish the year either highly ranked or still win a bowl game. If memory serves M...

Baseball is a crazy game. Fortunes can swing from day to day. I’ve been around the game a long time. Guys feed off each other both positively and negatively.

I’m pretty sure that Bersin cut Jerry’s grass. Once grass season was over he joined the team.

Re: EZU and Wake schedule football series.

Just curious....what does this have to do with ECU and Wake scheduling a football series? Seems like that went to the wayside on post TWO. That might be a record for the MMB as far as time to go off original topic in a thread. Asked the same question. After I read your post I still scanned th...

Re: 2018 Baseball

Baseball is a great game but probably includes more second guessing than any other sport. Walks and errors are killer. Wild pitches like today at this level should not happen. Hopefully the team can keep building on this weekend.

Re: Beat stAte

I’ve come to the conclusion that a truly good college basketball coach is one who can get a middle of the pack team to play hard and beat teams below it at this time of the year. That type of coach instills the idea that “anything can happen “ and that his team has a shot to do great things post sea...

Gottfried made a visit to Fayetteville to sign Dennis Smith a couple of years ago by way of helicopter and nobody thought that odd. Well I did.

Man that’s a lot of guys to catch the ball! Love it. We should be absolutely loaded at the skill position. If we solidify the lines and of course at QB we could make some noise

Re: Mountaineers and the NFL Draft

Looking ahead a bit here, but I have two questions. 1) Will Clifton be the highest draft pick in App history (right now #1 would be Brian Quick with pick 33 or 34 I believe), the only thing holding him back is his measurables. 2) will he declare after this season? Clifton Duck is a pretty darn good...

Re: Big $$ Announcement Coming

What is the $10m going to be earmarked for? When will it get spent? Anxious to see and hear big things! I believe the biggest chunk will go toward a down payment on the North Endzone project. But that still has to work its way through channels. Only asking this because of the ongoing north end zone...
