Re: Letting Loose in the Palouse Thread

Has anyone noticed we are in first place in the sun belt and yet to play at our best? I think that is impressive. And I don’t think I have seen an App defense play as well as they did fourth quarter Saturday. That was a total shut down Yeah just checked AGAIN and yeah still in first. Not bad. But l...

Re: Letting Loose in the Palouse Thread

As an aside, according to the small ESPN write up we won a Big Sky conference game. Say what?

Reinforces the theory (held by me at least) that polls are useless until teams have play at least 7 games or so

Re: Old Watauga HS now App State property

For what it’s worth NCSU v UVA soccer on now. Playing at State and announcers talked about the “tight” field that happens to be enclosed by a track. Guess it can be done

Re: NCAA to UNC: "It is our business"

Not to make light of this process or the outcome but hasn’t the term “underwater basket weaving” been used for a long time to describe “easy” classes? Pretty sure it wasn’t started at UNC. Back many years ago when I was at App I was faced with having to take a science course. Lots of people suggeste...

Re: One more WS Journal-Post NMSU

Some teams are absolute beasts between the 20’s but can’t finish. Some teams look great for 50 minutes but can’t seal the deal. NMSU is a team with 18-22 year olds who practice and actually play games to win. They also have some athletes and a coaching staff that knows the game and tries really hard...

One possible explanation for bad US soccer is that in our country kids also play: baseball, football, basketball, etc. In many of the countries mentioned they play...soccer. That's it! Kids also have virtually nothing to do in many of these countries. Soccer is by far the cheapest sport to play. Al...

Re: One more WS Journal-Post NMSU

The solution is to add a column to the standings- should have won. Old worn out phrase- gotta play for the whole 60 minutes really means something. And when guys talk about "all 3 phases" that really means something as well. We were fortunate to make plays when needed but a win is a win. I would say...

Re: D. Evans or S. Meadors?

I think a receiver with NFL type qualities doesn't need to put up huge numbers in a college season in order to get noticed or to get a shot at the next level. Only needs a few highlights. I can't see a move to FCS being a positive move. Hopefully he stays as we will be absolutely loaded at the recei...

Re: Tackling

I would say that tackling (or lack there of) kind of goes with the level of athlete. You probably see better technique at the Clemson's and Alabama's as they tend to have more skilled guys. Not always but probably more often than not. I'm sure it hurts quite a bit to actually tackle a guy running ri...

Re: Wise Words

I'm not sure if it's done everywhere but in my county before each high school football game the announcer reads a nice statement about sportsmanship which pertains to players and fans alike. Whether it sinks in with fans or not it's still good stuff. I would like to add one: The coaches cannot hear ...
