Re: 17-18 Wrestling

For App wrestlers, they have to win the SoCon tournament to go to nationals. There are some exceptions, like at 184 this year. Since the 184 weight class had a wrestler with a national ranking, the the SoCon got 2 bids for that weight class. There are also some at large bids that go out on March 6. ...

Re: BASKETBALL TEAMS NEED YOU!!!

It'd be nice to end up with a .500 record for first time in five seasons. If we ever said that about our Football team, we would be on our third coach at least. We shouldn't hold Basketball to any lesser standard. I see other coaches get hired and have complete turn-around by year three. Not at App.

Re: 2018 FB schedule coming out Tuesday

I like the Troy game being on the Thanksgiving weekend (rivalry weekend). I see them as our biggest threat in the East and would like to see this develop into a big rivalry worthy of recognition. I know this is usually a date that has low attendance, but if it turns out to be for the eastern title a...

Re: Taylor Lamb

When you read all of those accomplishments, during a transition from FCS to FBS no less, it is hard to argue that he isn't one of best to wear the black and gold. I honestly don't know if AE could have done what TL did against the same level of competition. Before everyone jumps on me, I am not sugg...

What I don't get is if ZT has such a live arm, why didn't he ever get a chance to show it in the limited time he saw the field? Whenever he was in, we never went deep. I know it was mop up time but still, let the kids play and show what they got.

While I do like bringing in outsiders for fresh perspective at times, I am really happy about these 2 hires. DJ coaching linebackers at App State just seems a natural fit.

Re: Benson other G5 Commissioners Oppose Expansion

I agree that the powers that be don't want to have less bowls, but I contend it is simply for tv audience and the advertisers that live sports generate. The communities might benefit some from the bowls but ESPN probably has no care about tickets sold because they are making their money on the adver...

Re: Benson other G5 Commissioners Oppose Expansion

What gets me is of all folks the AAC Commish, especially this season, gives a full throated endorsement of the current set-up and agaist expansion. If I were UCF, I’d take that as a punch to the gut. Makes no sense to me. Agreed. The only conclusion I can draw is that somebody's on the take. With 4...

Re: Jalen Hurts transfers to the Stink?

I follow Bama fairly closely and have been waiting all year for Tua to get his chance in a meaningful game. Tua is the real deal and many have been calling for him all year, I don't think there is any question that he is the qb for here on out. Hurts seems like the ultimate team first guy so I doubt...

Re: Straight up pickem .....CFP National Championship

I say Bama wins another one. Georgia actually plays into Bama's strengths, their qb is not mobile and they rely on the run. Bama's dbs are good and their run D is always one of the best in the country. The only position that I think UGA is better at than Bama is qb. I look for the Tide to Roll.

Re: Assistant pay $10mm

It will be interesting to see when the bubble bursts. With less youth playing football, for parents fear of injury, and more people pulling the plug on cable it should just be a matter of time. Cable companies pay insane money to the conferences to cover a sport that may have significantly less part...

Haha, this is absurd. You just can't claim a national championship. It isn't something you can just make up and proclaim as a true title.

Re: My G5 Top 10

With the front page discontinued I didn't do the weekly column this year, but I can't resist taking a stab at a final ranking. Just one man's opinion, of course. 1. Central Florida (13-0, AAC Champions, beat Auburn in Peach Bowl) 2. Boise State (11-3, MWC Champions, beat Oregon in Las Vegas Bowl) 3...

Should make for an interesting spring and fall camp, but right now I don't think any of us know enough to count out any of these kids. I hope they all push each other and whoever earns the job knows that there are very capable backups just waiting for the chance to play. Competition will make them a...

Re: Season Ticket Sales 2007 vs 2017 - This is disappointing

As others have stated, if mini packages were included in the 2007 season ticket numbers than the comparison is completely flawed and useless. Compare apples to apples, how many full season ticket packages did we sell in 2007? The athletic office is attempting to create their own form of supply and d...

I think he goes down as the second best qb to wear the black and gold. Honestly, what he has accomplished during a transition is unprecedented and frankly should get more media attention. Yes, he had some limits in his skill set but not in his leadership and determination. Taylor Lamb has been great...

So they are still using student money to build this is what I'm gathering. The "food services revenue" sounds like student money to me. Student money given in exchange for food, left over after paying the overhead for serving said food. It's not a fee. It seems to pass the basic economics test to m...
