Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Yes, let's get rid of wrestling...where we dominate...and have decent to good fan support... When we had Futbol, who showed up to watch? Consistently ranked and beating other top 25 programs. There’s only like 70 something D1 wrestling teams left for obvious reasons . Hell they don’t even have wres...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Thank you acknowledging this. This explains a lot. You're quite welcome. I didn't know my frustration with Gillin since the end of the 2019 football season was a secret. The thing about you that I really don't get is why my position is so unacceptable to you. I honestly don’t care what your positio...

Re: 2024 Roster Updates
The absolute toughest position to fill via the portal. So let’s cut (let go) of 2. Makes sense. Pound the portal! I really don't think the 2 DL that left were cut or let go by our staff as we are not deep at those positions. I do think they wanted more playing time (and perhaps a different scheme) ...

Re: 2024-25 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Why decommit, right now they are starters without even stepping foot on campus. Our 4 recruits plus 2 remaining players (1 a walk on) are the extent of the App State men's basketball team.

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Harcum and Tate might be the best players returning in the Sun Belt If either of them go then I am going to assume Kerns is not coming back. There is no way every player leaves but our coaching staff is returning. I am keeping an eye on Harcum. Not sure I agree with this take. Could simply be that ...

Re: Who left first, players or coach Kerns?
Charleston job is now open. at least 1 mill a year salary. Big sport on campus. Back in SC. Keeps a tighter pulse on the Clemson job for one day. Lets be real his phone will ring about this job. Very true. I would hope that we have made at least a 800k or 900k offer to Kerns though. I REALLY REALLY...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
So as a followup question for discussion (that may create a firestorm)... In the new environment, how much emphasis should be placed on high school recruiting??? I think we should certainly avoid any high school kids that need developing but perhaps there is still a place for recruits that have the...

I was not anticipating this one. He has been on the team a long time and played well for us (but not well enough that I thought a P5 would poach him) so this surprises me.

Re: Baseball Scores
Any chance you can post conference standings after each weekend? Thanks! GO APPS!! Need to win 4 this week. No bad losses. Marsha sucks. No. The T-Shirt I had back in 1993 said Furman Sucks, and Marshall...let's see how I can put this...is a little more daring. Haha, my brother made that shirt and ...

Tommy got to the blood round, 1 win away from All American, but got beat. Still, we did some good work, got some wins and kept positive momentum going for future years. These guys should all be back with good experience.

Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
The good thing about Pensacola is that it is equally inconvenient to everyone so nobody really has an advantage. Well, I guess South Alabama is really close but for most schools and fans it is a pita to get there. Heck I live in Florida and it is still a legit 7.5 hour drive or a short but expensive...

Re: 1-AA 2.0
I simply can't believe that a majority of these athletes who multiple transfer are managing the academic side. Are schools really admitting them legitimately? Side note. My son is at App and told me a significant football player is in one of his classes and according to my son this player never has...

Congrats to the 5 App State 2024 SoCon Champions: 133- Ethan Oakley 149- Cody Boyd 157- Tommy Askey 165- Will Miller 184- Tomas Brooker Each of them earns the auto bid to the NCAA tournament. Some have been there before and for some it is a brand-new experience, but none of them will ever forget tha...

We lose the final match, but still 5 conference champions is very impressive. We only lose 1 match in the championship round. Great day for App State wrestlers. Another SoCon tournament Championship!!

Re: SoCon Wrestling Tournament
Our Heavy Weight (#2 seed) Jacob Sartorio has an uphill battle against the #9 wrestler in the country from Cambell in the finals. Cambell stuck our guy earlier in the year, the Cambell dude is no joke.

Re: SoCon Wrestling Tournament
Final seconds of the 184 finals, our freshman Brooker keeps pushing as the Campbell kid is just trying to hold on and get to the end of the match with the lead. Last second takedown sends #3 seed App State Brooker to a SoCon Championship and an auto bid to the NCAA in 2 weeks. What a great match by ...

Re: NIL college tourney. Winners split 1 mil.
Some could argue that money has been destroying college sports for a long, long time. The only difference is that now some of the players are actually getting some of the money. The system is broken, there is not much disagreement about that. The really disagreement comes in how to fix it

Re: 1-AA 2.0
There is a limited supply of funds for most schools, either the alums give to institutional improvements or NIL, most schools Alums can't do both. Special exceptions for those old school oil money of the Texas schools.
