Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

I'll go with the answers that prioritize health and wellbeing over business and profits, just to keep it simple. That’s a cop out answer at this point, because every bit of it is completely intertwined. It’s not necessarily prioritizing business and profits when you look at it from a “being able to...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

So what is your answer to the problem? And I’m not talking in terms of football, rather in terms of life continuing in a somewhat normal capacity. Use schools as an example. Opening schools doesn’t really create an inherent risk to kids, but it does to older educators or those with compromised situ...

Re: Wisconsin game in jeopardy

Herd immunity and a soft response has been tried in Sweden and the virus by all accounts has been a certified failure. Also, it's possible to get the virus more than once. Being OK with young people being more at risk for the virus because of their perceived health is, quite frankly horrifying. The ...

Re: Spring 2021 Football?

There's substantial reports that Michigan is looking to call off its first two games, which are Washington and Arkansas State. What if the MEAC decides not to start on time? Then the Morgan State opener is off the table. I feel like a lot of university leaders are hesitating so someone else can be t...

Re: Spring 2021 Football?

The Ivy League doesn’t participate in post season football so it’s not a big deal for them to postpone. Harvard is apparently going to online classes for the next calendar year so it is entirely possible that they cancel sports altogether. Doubt their model is adoptable for those without billion do...

Spring 2021 Football?

Not gonna post excerpts from The Athletic article as its behind a paywall (and in poor taste to do so), but basically, a Spring 2021 CFB season is gaining traction among CFB leaders, with final decisions expected by later this month. The first domino, just like in cancelling sporting events, could b...

Re: NEZ Update Query

FYI, the field turf was last replaced in 2011, when the 23-inch field crown was whittled down as well. The endzones were installed in late summer 2016.

Re: And Another Thing

I'm seeing numerous App State student athletes (and students) attending protests in the cities they're originally from. App State and App Athletics have released numerous statements on the protests. Coaches are commenting on it. And there was a protest with hundreds in West Jefferson today. Young st...

Re: ODU AD wants to blow up CUSA

"Appalachian State’s average distance between current conference opponents is 650.55 miles. If the conferences realigned the average distance between its conference opponents would be reduced to 417.08 miles." How much would actually be saved with trips averaging ~230 miles less? It would mean the ...

Re: ODU AD wants to blow up CUSA

We are a long way away from getting an AAC invite under the current parameters. We have infrastructure issues, both App related, and the town of Boone that need to be solved before we are a contender. I think the Boone-based infrastructure issues are overstated. The past hotel issues are not as big...

Re: ODU AD wants to blow up CUSA

To form a new conference you need (I believe) seven schools who have been in a single conference together for a minimum of six years. CUSA could be the base for geographic realignment. Some schools, specifically out west like Little Rock, UT-Arlington and ULM, could be left out. Also, a waiver could...

If there was any doubt that someone F’d up the seating overhang in the NEZ you just have to look at the number and placement of the pillars now underneath....
Good catch. I'm looking at it at night, but appears there's 10 pillars. Not sure if they're permanent or not.

New rule changes for 2020 season

An official who posts on these matters on Reddit gave a rundown of the new rules for the 2020 CFB season. https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/g7dce8/full_list_of_2020_rule_changes/ Overall, I don't see these affecting the game too much, potentially minus the three-second mandate on overturned call...

Re: Michigan game rewatch

Didn't we only play something like as little as 27 players that day? If that is true, our training must have been top notch. Jerry had brought that up numerous times over the years. According to the participation count, it's not true as I believe between 40-50 App players saw the field. What I thin...

Re: Michigan game rewatch

That Michigan team had Top 10 talent in the country. Manningham, Henne, Hart, Jake Long, Crable, etc. Michigan went 9-4 that season. Got boatraced the following week by Dennis Dixon's Oregon team (who was the No. 1 team in the country until he got hurt) and lost at Wisconsin, but still would have go...
