Re: App Band Director Bails

I noted this on a different thread. It’s perfectly OK for all of us to have different opinions about what makes our marching band great. But it’s cool that on this board we care! we all agree we want BOD to be the best we can have. So let the dean, Dr Douthit of the music school know your thoughts o...

Greg. I have established an endowment specifically for the Marching Band because just as you noted, that’s what needs to be done to move the program forward and ensure long term sustainability.

Re: App Band Director Bails

Email your thoughts to the Dean of the Music School about the characteristics you think are important for our next Band Director and the Band of Distinction, and if there are Marching Bands that he should recruit from let him know.

Re: App Band Director Bails

I tend to agree with you 8993, seemed like the BOD wasn’t very inventive. And they basically stopped marching at halftime, just running onto the field into a formation and playing. Marching Bands should MARCH! The size of the band for a University of our enrollment seemed small and not growing. I re...

App Band Director Bails

REPOSTING From App Band Facebook page—- It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Dr. Kevin Richardson will be leaving Appalachian State University. Over the past 6 years, Dr. Richardson has fostered a thriving marching band program and exceptional symphony band. We would like to thank Dr. Rich...

Re: Roll Call- UNC-Harrisb...errr I mean UNC-Charlotte

FYI. Whoever heard UNCC was without a band director heard wrong. Its APP with no band director, he left abruptly to take a job in Texas. And I strongly suspect unless there is extreme pressure, repeat extreme pressure, we will only see the Band of Distinction only at at a bowl game. So if you want t...

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations

I thought recruiting was one of the Fox strong suits. The App news release upon his hiring stated “Strong recruiting and player development have been staples of Fox's college coaching career with student-athletes that he coached at Davidson earning all-America honors five times and all-conference ac...

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations

No one answered my post earlier in this thread so I’m posting it again. I hear the theory that if we don’t give an extension, it leaves recruitment and players in limbo about future years. I don’t mean to be sarcastic because I truly don’t understand: if we have similar results next year, .500+ in c...

I hear the theory that if we don’t give an extension, it leaves recruitment and players in limbo about future years. I don’t mean to be sarcastic because I truly don’t understand: if we have similar results next year, .500+ in conference with some good wins, it seems like we’re in the exact same pla...

Re: Nick McDevitt to MTSU

I can expect some fans at MT may be bummed. Don’t know who they expected. And as they say in the stock market, past returns are no expectation of future performance. But given what I have personally seen by watching Coach McDevitt for the past five years I expect he will change minds. Given the minu...

Nick McDevitt to MTSU

Nick McDevitt is a good guy, good coach, good recruiter and evaluator of talent. This is a good move for MT.

Re: Penn state hotels

Ok. Two of my Penn State alum coworkers said Harrisburg vs Altoona. They said if driving up I 81 it was good and that there was more to do and more lodging options. I’m finding rooms in State College in the high $200 but no Saturday drive time required.
