Re: Ruffin McNeill Memory

By nearly all accounts, Coach Ruff is a heck of a nice guy who really cares about his players and connects with them on a personal level. If he has a successful run at ECU, I think this will be a key. I think he can sit in a recruit's living room and sell the parents on the family atmosphere within ...

Re: ECU Starting QB.....

97 is right. This does not even pretend to be a balanced offense. Rio has been in the program for three years now, two under the current staff, so he should be ready. The coaches say he has the best arm of the four QBs who were in the running at the beginning of fall practice, and he is the only one...

Re: ECU message boards

Regarding the outcome of the game? Not to me. I'm not sure how he can be certain Ruff isn't head coach material, though.

Re: ECU message boards

Okay so why don't they go out and party all night, smoke some canabis like Michingan did? I understand the arrogance of UM but ECU? Ruffin is a great guy for an assistant but he ain't no head coach and will be gone after a 6-6 year. Are you serious or just talking smack? Kind of harsh, don't you th...

Yeah, I read about that guy. That's Chris Johnson fast. Hope he works out for you guys ... eventually.

Re: What to watch for

We have a new player, a JC transfer named Lance Ray, who played at Arkansas as a freshman. He's a wide receiver who is also a return specialist. According to those who have seen him, and that's only coaches and a few spectators because he only got to campus last week, he is an elite player -- one of...

Re: What to watch for

Go figure. He was a DC, and we had the worst defense in the nation his first year here. Some of that had to do with losses to graduation, some had to do with the scheme we were running, some had to do with injuries. This year will be key to knowing if we are really moving in the right direction.

Re: What to watch for

Punting and kicking is a mystery right now. Coverage will be better, I firmly believe.

Re: What to watch for

I know its sounds nice to say that your defense went from 119th to 56th, but as a solid pessimist I prefer the 97th in scoring defense, at over 32 ppg. stat. That's true, but the turnovers played a big role in opposition scoring. We averaged almost a touchdown a game to non-offensive plays -- fumbl...

Re: What to watch for

Our defense went from 119th to 56th last season as we changed schemes from Skip Holtz's 4-3 to a 3-4 that more closely matches our personnel and ability to recruit better LB talent than down linemen. The big guys on the O-line and the D-line are the most difficult to stockpile, but we have had good ...

Greetings from Down East

Im not going to add to the ECU boards thread because it kind of got mixed up in a lot of smack talk, and that's not why I'm here. Like most ECU fans, I'm looking forward to the game. It's been a long time since last season, and that one left a bad taste in our mouths. We dealt with a lot of turnover...
