Re: Tony Searcy

Allow me one final comment about our friend, Tony. Literally everything he did back in the day as a student-athlete, as a graduate student and a bit later as an ASU assistant MBB coach, he did with great enthusiasm and with what I'd call UMMMPH! On the court, Tony simply owned the boards at both end...

Control the ball, no turnovers or stupid penalties.
That's "The App State/Satterfield Way." I'm just queasy about our QB, OL, special teams and our ongoing bad habit of picking up *#$@!* unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Re: Tony Searcy

Scat, check that stat. 12.7. I remember 15.7 for some reason. T Bone is as good as they come. I'll weigh in on Scat's behalf, being a bit of a junkie on this stuff all my life. According to the Mountaineer MBB Record Book, Tony's average as a senior was actually 12.8 rpg. Scat was off by a mere one...

Re: Victor Johnson Recognized by CFN

I mean, its cool being ranked in the top 20... but, according to CFN, Victor Johnson is either on Arkansas State or Lanard Bonner is at Appalachian State :( The starter at left tackle over the last two seasons, he’ll join with Lanard Bonner to anchor the Sun Belt’s best line . The all-star is a 6-5...

Re: Changes to Campus Entrance

My wife and I were on campus Saturday for the App Summer--Kool & The Gang concert at HCC. It's clear that a major construction project is in progress at the main entrance. It's all good *except* I gotta admit I don't quite get the use of "concrete pavers" given what literally everyone knows about f...

He was amazing......and among the best....Just do best by sport.....makes this easier. I agree that it would have to be done by sport to have any real meaning. The wide variety of skill-sets required from sport-to-sport would always make valid comparisons impossible. For example...try comparing Tho...

Re: MBB Schedule?

Have I missed something? Have we released our full schedule for the coming season? If not, when does it usually get released? You haven't missed it. It's likely to be a while. Last season's non-conf. slate wasn't posted on https://appstatesports.com until Aug. 2nd. https://appstatesports.com/news/2...

Croatia v. The Russian Bear @ 2PM ET on Fox. Croatia is the better team; the Russkies have the home pitch and the crowd. This will be a nasty war. Can Putin and his KGB/FSB thugs get to the FIFA referees? If not, Croatia to the semis.

RIP: Richard Harrison (Pawn Stars)

Reality TV "star" Richard Harrison , "The Old Man" of PAWN STARS fame, has passed away at the age of 77. Harrison was born in Danville, VA but grew up in Lexington, NC from the time he was an infant through his high school years at LHS. He left Lexington to enlist in the U. S. Navy--an enlistment th...
