Re: App State hires new assistant GM
No one was complaining. What you took as complaining was in fact the reality of the current situation. Because it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, you called it complaining, or as others have used the term “excuses”. The “ideas” that you were asking for weren’t what you wanted to hear. To keep thing...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
I'm curious how you think the clash between Title IX and the the Sherman Act is going to play out. They cannot both be enforced at the same time. It is a very interesting dilemma that is headed to an impasse. In the end, I believe that Title IX is going to win and here’s why. Both the Sherman Act a...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
OK. So, what ideas do YOU have (that don’t involve gutting every other sport or violating Title IX six ways from Sunday) to cure the budget ills of App State Football? I am not the one who complained. I have been the one asking others for ideas. A lot of tough decisions are going to be made. I don'...

Re: Title IX Lawsuits
The Title IX lawsuits were inevitable. But they aren't going to force anything other than counter lawsuits from the revenue producers because if Title IX applies to revenue distribution then it is directly contradictory to the Sherman Antitrust Act. There can be no sharing of revenue that isn't an ...

Re: App State hires new assistant GM
Eric? Is that you? On another note…Grier sorta looks like Jermaine Jackson, so he’s got that going for him. No and if you look back I was not the one who said that our finances are a big problem. I was simply replying to AppSt94 saying that. OK. So, what ideas do YOU have (that don’t involve guttin...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
The solution is to cut athletics, but no one wants to say that part out loud. Instead, they want to keep pretending that there is some way to run a department and pay a staff all while bringing in significantly less than we spend, and there is, on the backs of donors who have been told to shut up an...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
Not necessarily supporting the position, but I think he’s pretty close to right in what’s going to happen. Forcing the revenue producers to share with the non-revenue sports is probably going to be ruled to be an unfair restraint of trade. SCOTUS has already said as much. There will have to be an an...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
It’s trending that way for sure, but until it does, if it does, we can’t cut off opportunities to true student athletes. At some point the schools and the federal government will come into play if Title IX is compromised. The only ones that are going to win in this instance is going to be the lawye...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
Again. Your end game is to kill anything that gets in the way of football. That’s not how this works. I think we can all agree that isn't how it should work, but it's exactly how it's going to play out at a lot of lower P4 and a whole lot of G6. Many, many Olympic sports, and maybe everything but f...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
This, And cutting golf seems the most likely of casualties saves you maybe $500k. 500k would allow you to adequately fund personnel department and give a deserving raise to a very good strength coach or 500k would give a big boost in NIL where you could go get 3-4 high level players. Again. Your en...

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
I think we are at the NCAA minimum number of teams required for D1 membership or FBS membership, I’m not certain. There have been discussions about lowering that number which is 16 or 17 . Until then we will have that number. And football will be far and away the first priority. This, And cutting g...

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
They lawyered up immediately and the NCAA hasn't fared too well lately where trade practices are concerned. I would be shocked if Sac St. is not playing FBS football in 2026.

Re: Appalachian Energy Conference 2025
I have some experience dealing with research and funding. The "science" will be whatever is necessary to keep the grant money flowing. That is true 100% of the time. After my experience in dealing with it, I will never trust any type of research again. Just look for where the money is coming from, ...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
If the settlement works like they all expect this could actually be a good thing for App State and all smaller schools. I say this because although there is a lot of bad (increased scholarships and direct pay from schools, etc) there is also a lot of good in that NIL will be enforced to truly be NI...

Re: Dino on ballot for CF HOF
He had a motor and killer instinct. I remember one game where we lost, can’t remember opponent, but at end they were taking a knee to run out clock and he tried to anticipate snap to dive over line to force QB to fumble. Didn’t work as offsides but he would never quit. Wake Forest, 1985. I was there.

Re: Boone Restaurants Closing
When I was a student there was a gas station on BR Rd that sold 3 hot dogs for 99 cents. Wouldn’t pass sanitation codes now but back in the early 80s it was a great deal for a poor college student. No telling what the hell was in those dogs and I really don’t want to know. I consumed a LOT of those...
