Re: AP voter doubles down
There’s no need to use AI, it’s just a spreadsheet. IE, the BCS model.

Re: AP voter doubles down
I think there's a place for both computer rankings and human voters. Polls have their flaws, but I don't think one voter making a dumb oversight in week 2 completely invalidates the whole concept. Also, AI still makes a lot of basic mistakes, computer rankings are only as good as the humans who des...

Re: AP voter doubles down
And I’ve been having the debate with my cohost the last few days about what we value. I’ve pushed the S&P+ ratings system because it’s data driven and takes your opponent (including what you should do against them) into account, yet he keeps saying he values the polls more the data. How can you valu...

AP voter doubles down
In case you haven't been following this story... Southern California based AP voter Haley Sawyer is catching a LOT of flack for moving Florida up and South Florida down after the Bulls beat the Gators Saturday. She then took to video and essentially laughed it off saying "it probably doesn't matter"...

Re: ULM to FCS???
If this comes to fruition, the big problem is it puts the SB back at 13 members. ULM pushed to add LT. We could’ve dropped to 12 and stood firm for a while but in the future we would be forced to add again. WKU is the popular choice based on who’s been available but they’d like to stay tied to MTSU,...

ULM to FCS???
As reported by David Schultz of Locked on Sunbelt, ULM’s AD is stepping down and the school allegedly wants to cut their already league lowest $31m athletic budget by $5 to $9m (via Shane Mettlen, ODU reporter). They can’t compete in FBS at $12-15m. Recall that they also were the loudest voice spons...

Re: Sun Belt presidents to vote Monday on Louisiana Tech
If it’s about the fan experience we should add teams that are destinations not Ruston. What is it about the SB that is unappealing to the likes of Memphis, UAB, Tulane, etc?....Obviously the $$ is better with P4 conferences but the likelihood they get an offer to join is slim...Why stay with CUSA/A...

Re: Sun Belt presidents to vote Monday on Louisiana Tech
The west has their Coastal type school now. The west has their second ULL program at best. CCU is growing, LA Tech is stagnant. Couldn’t you argue Coastal has made its improvements at least partly because of being in the Sun Belt. Are we too naive to believe La Tech can’t improve by being in the Su...

Re: Sun Belt presidents to vote Monday on Louisiana Tech
Kinda lame. I think the sun belt could have done better. La tech has spent 30 years trying to torpedo ULM if the shoe was on the other foot there’s no way they’d support inviting UL or ULM they should have torpedoed this thing. Couple of things… 1. Different administrations, not the current one. Th...

Sounds like we’re doing our due diligence. ECU will say they want promises of money to come and Gill will say “we make no promises and the money will be what you generate once you’re here”.

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
The Ragin Cajuns want no part of LaTech joining the Sun Belt. I believe that would be a hard sell. https://forumeus.com/showthread.php/333416-Tech-to-the-Belt/page4 Both LaLa and Monroe are supporting La Tech’s bid to join the Sunbelt at this point. What fans want is rarely what the suits want.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I can see this topic going from the baseball team to NIL and profit sharing but I’ll ask this probably naive question. How on earth is any profit sharing going to work? Let’s say for the sake of argument that App State scrapes together $2m “extra” revenue to shell out to our athletes. How much is t...

Re: NCSU in Boone 2028
2028 might give us time to get some stadium renovations in order. East side tower, possible SEZ seating. Those plans would have to basically be ready to break ground at the end of this season though. I'd still like to see the unique setup of grass hill down below, expandable permanent seating above.

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
Did anyone spot the interview clip from Mickey Joseph the head football coach at Grambling State proposing buyouts for players? If App were to pull a transfer off of his roster, we would have to pay him a buyout for that player. Same as if Missouri pulled a player off of ours. And I think that’s a f...

Re: Coastal to have free concessions
lines are already too long at Coastal. This will make it worse. No premium items though, just your basic hot dog and chips What if the whole strategy is to make the lines really long for the low profit margin items and drive people to the higher profit margin items…In which case devious and brillia...

Re: Coastal to have free concessions
They’ve probably already estimated the total season cost and have a donor who’s already covered it…in which case it’s brilliant. Nothing is free in this world.
