Re: First game: ETSU

cutting back to 75 scholarships would redistribute the wealth, but that's just sports talk radio idea. I've literally been laughed off the air for making that suggestion but it's a valid one considering there's about 5 different ways to get guys on a roster and/or extend their eligibility without b...

The AD just walked back the "mandatory" terms and said it was purely optional for all players.
In his presser Napier walked his words back and simultaneously doubled down by trying to sell it like a radiothon, saying "It's only $200 over 4 years, $4.25 a month, 17c a day".

Re: UL-L will require their football players to donate to the athletic fund in order to play football

Napier said in a follow-up press conference that he'd pay any player's $50 if they couldn't. $50 x 85 scholarship players is $4,250. If the UL-L program is in such dire straits that they need to risk alienating players over $4,250 a year they're seriously in trouble.

Re: UL-L will require their football players to donate to the athletic fund in order to play football

Sorry, I like the idea. I am old school in that i see the value of a college education and what the school is giving them for their efforts. I think it creates a sense of attachment to the University, not just the football program. Hopefully that carries over in the future for future donations. You...

Re: ULL $1 dogs $2 beer

Anybody with kids will tell you 1 game can be north of a $250 trip x 6 home games is $1,500. That right there is why people only come to 1 game a season. Solid Wi-Fi is nice and all but if you can't provide value fans will stay home, then what does your expensive concessions, t shirts and tickets do...

When people feel like they're getting value for their money they'll spend more money.
When people feel like they're getting ripped off they don't come back.

Re: ULL $1 dogs $2 beer

Good job ULL. When college football as a whole stops trying to squeeze every dollar out of fans as possible attendance will return. If you want to go to games for free follow a DIII team............... Sure, because people like Arthur Blank are idiots : "despite lowering their food and beverage pri...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC

Another interesting point about UAB, I have seen numerous articles/sources mention UAB as a possible add. Why in the world would a conference seriously consider a school that had actually dropped football just a few years ago? Yep they are back now but that has to speak worlds about their "organiza...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC

Football is really the #1 thing that matters to these conferences. The academics and other sports come after. While App is not a National Research school, our overall student academics stack up to schools that are considered "bigger and better". All we have to do is continue to grow our support and...

Re: UConn leaving the AAC

Just a thought, but thinking long term here; should the Big 12 expand and take say Houston and UCF, is the AAC as attractive? Immediately, yes. Long term, still probably yes. AAC's media rights deal and overall membership profile would take a hit but still be considerably stronger than the Sun Belt...
