Re: MBB vs Arkansas stAte, Friday, March 1, 2024, 6:30 p.m., ESPN+, Holmes Sweet Holmes, finale, #1 Defense v #1 Offense

Anyone who was there Friday, did they honor CJ Huntley on senior night? It’s my understanding he has an extra Covid year if he wants it but being honored on senior day might indicate whether he intends to return for it or not. He was honored. He isn’t using his CoVid year. That stinks. He’s got the...

Re: MBB at Old Dominion, Thur, Feb. 22, 2024, 7 p.m., ESPN+, Chartway Arena, 4320 Hampton Blvd, Norfolk, VA, a royal tes

Hope we do not play down to the level of the opponent for this one as we have previously. Please get up to a comfortable lead early and keep it there. Playing down / not winning comfortably over bad teams is certainly one of the reasons App’s NET is in the 70s while JMU is in the 50s. The AP voters...

I want to see crisp and purposeful ball movement. I was really impressed by Toledo in that aspect. They were playing a very choreographed shell game with their passes, handoffs, and screens. It was really fun to watch. We on the other hand get a little lazy at times. Granted, it’s worked ok to this ...

Shallacking a +.500 team from last season (who knows how much of that team came back). Feels good to get the season started off with a high note.

Re: Elliott to USCar

A few weeks ago Josh Pate predicted that we’d see a top coach in the game leave his job because he’s fed up with the portal and NIL. Not that either Chip Kelly or Shawn Elliott are top coaches but UCLA is still a great job, but more that’s 2 who have left the HC position to accept staff positions el...

3 days into spring ball though, that’s rough on GSU 🤣.

41-43 in 7 seasons. 5 of 7 were winning seasons. Best coach they ever had. Definition of more with less. Glad he’s out of that 💩 hole.

It warms my cockles to see these threads growing the way they are. No matter what happens we need this kind of hype and fervor when the team is going into game 1 of 2024-25.

Assuming Kerns, Abson, Spillers, Tate, Harcum, and (hopefully) Huntley come back I think we will.

Re: 5+7 model close to passing. G5 would still get screwed

The only way I see this happening is if somehow the PAC (whatever it is) remains as a power conference and is the 5th one. The G5 champs would probably have to go undefeated and hope that whatever remains out west is basically relegated to another G5 conference. If the powers that be want some semb...

Re: MBB vs Toledo, 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, Holmes Sweet Holmes, MAC/Sun Belt Challenge, be there

The NET is supposedly unbiased. The voters are. It’s been a long time since App State basketball had any brand power. Got to continue achieving 20 win seasons 1 or 2 more years in a row and that brand perception starts to change. Losing Huntley and Gregory this year will hurt. If we can hang on to A...

Re: App Receiving Votes…No Longer Just One

I wonder how this season will affect our scheduling going forward. Maybe eliminate or reduce the D2 games and parlay Auburn coming in into getting another high major to come in. Beating Auburn on national television may actually make any high majors reticent to come to Boone. As if they weren’t alr...

Re: If you build it, they will come

We lost by one point, 54-53. I stand corrected. I was remembering with my heart, not with my head. In fairness, at one point we were getting smoked but came on late and had a chance to win. On our show every week we bring on a Panthers podcaster named JJ Hardy. He said to us once “nobody remembers ...

We are righting the ship in athletics by dominating stink, let’s strengthen our academics, now. I see the state of GA. has proposed a dental school for stink. We are a better school than stink. We should push for more post grad and professional programs. Heck, Wingate even has a Pharmacy School in ...

Re: If you build it, they will come

I don’t disagree with this format. Dean Smith, like him or not, always felt like the regular season conference championship should mean something. At that point if you want more teams in, make them play-in to get in. It was bogus a few years ago when we got in via winning the SB tournament and were...

Re: If you build it, they will come

That’s why I believe each conference should get 2 bids. 1 for the regular season champ (full body of work) and 1 for the conference tournament champ (team that’s playing hot). If the same team wins both it opens an at large. Incentivize the regular season champ to try to win the tournament with mor...
