Re: Sun Belt Schedule Released
Very strange to start conference play before new years, wonder why?. Relatively close non conference travel, more road games while on break than home conference games so that is good news and more home games than road once they return. On balance I would say this is a student athlete "friendly" sche...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
I think the cringe-worthy Bobby Lutz situation was something DG could not prevent and for which he is not responsible. Further, I think that would have been the wrong direction. I'm sure Lutz knows you can't campaign your way into these jobs, these days. My point is that if you know you are going to...

Re: Men's Basketball Coaching Search
It’s interesting that everybody on this site thinks DG has made excellent choices. Neither of his new hires has played one game yet. It’s not that I’m doubting his ability but shouldn’t we wait and see how it works out? Just to expand on this. This transition was presumably planned by DG for someti...

Re: Can we finally admit Fox is not the answer?
What is the question? Currently, App is ranked 179 in KenPom rankings. If you look at the play of the schools ranked 100-178 you will see the same "coaching" problems (bad decisions, selfish play, poor execution) in higher ranked teams with more traditional basketball profiles. I have watched a lot ...

Re: MBB releases '18-'19 non-conference slate
I could have quoted half the folks involved in this thread. Problem is, other coaches look at your roster and see what you have coming back before blindly scheduling a visit up the mountain in the early winter. We do not have a favorable roster you want to play on the road. We have our best roster,...

Re: 18-19 bball prognostication
I don't think this team will play with a traditional PG or Post. Modern basketball seems to dislike specialist like this. They are deep enough at guard/wing to spread the floor, keep the ball moving and take advantage of each players skills. There has not been a team like this in Fox's tenure. I lov...

Re: SB and CUSA basketball scheduling system
I think the key complimentary piece that needs to go along with this scheduling system is a scheduling Alliance between mid major conferences. Each school needs to hold two non-conference slots for MidMajor Alliance games (one home and one away) The conferences then need to act like networks and del...

Re: Fox extended to 2021
Transfers are not necessarily an indicator of a problem or anything specific. Playing time is the most likely reason for a transfer. Kids and their families have limited patience and persistence. Another thing to point out is that as the program improves Fox will be able to "recruit over" some of hi...

Re: Radical Sun Belt Hoops schedule proposal
T-Dog Can you point out the "non-conference scheduling standard" in the press release? I see the non conference scheduling alliance but can't find a goal for the strength or level of non conference opponents.

That looks like an RPI disaster and a scheduling nightmare.

Re: @ Akron
The only substantive resemblance to last year's team is defensive performance. This team can score, they can shoot and they are working together. Last year's team was very selfish and as a result failed at both offense and defense. This team will learn to play defense and improve.

I never felt closer or more interested in baseball than the week my son played there. Coach Lou did a fantastic job of bringing forth his vision.

Re: Why Fox is the Right Guy for the Job
The only way it will work is to recruit some studs. With football we have shown that we can bring in guys with zero or one stars, redshirt them, get them in the S&C program and very often these guys blossom into good football players. I view hoops differently. You have to bring in guys who can play...
