Re: ODU Discussion

OK, I’m gonna roll a grenade in here. I am 100% in favor of what DL is doing to try at App. For my part, I don’t regret the player dismissals; they were painful but necessary. DL is attempting to restore a culture of accountability and equality at App. No one is above the team, and that should reso...

Re: ODU Discussion

Why call a QB run if the QB isn't going to get out and run, don't go down early. That was a bad play call on our OC. How is that on the OC? The OC didn't drop to a knee short of the line when he was able to make it.... That's on Kohl. I blame the OC because I am assuming (could be wrong) that he ha...

Re: ODU Discussion

We are a bad team. I’m not sure if we’re bad. Just haven’t gel’d. Remember, we had 60 new guys on an already weak FCS’ish roster. We should be better than we are playing though, that’s for sure. Too many penalties and turnovers in crucial moments. We are not the only team in America who had roster ...

Bubble screens?
Stop routes?
Feel like we’re forcing middle of the field.
Where are the easy throws?
We can still run the ball, only 7-0.
Midirection?

Just dump offs and short crossing patterns. Where's the offensive genius, aside from fake punts?

Re: Mid-season halfway point grade?

Use the pass as an extension of the run game. We are what 7 games in. Teams have film and have figured out we almost exclusively run inside... Very rarely, if any, true outside runs. If 7 out, got to use short passes to get outside. Trig is a good back . More often, though, he is going to get 2 to ...

Re: Coastal - 3:30pm - Discussion

I love the idea of keeping traditions, but in all seriousness, what real unique traditions do we have besides pointing to an end zone while Bugler's dream is being played? App State chant, holding up 4 fingers as we enter the 4th quarter (not unique), "Its an Appstate first down"(not unique). Not b...

Re: Coastal - 3:30pm - Discussion

Maybe I’m crazy, but I think Loggains has bigger fish to fry than to be worried about what songs the marching band plays. Also, can everyone stop crying about the offense? They scored over 30 pts and turnovers weren’t an issue. That should’ve been enough to get the job done. The other side of the b...

Re: Mid-season halfway point grade?

The program unfortunately has fallen several steps from 2019. Most of the talent is FCS quality with no depth, especially at OL which is shocking to say the least. Dowell is trying to get us back there but will need more than one abbreviated offseason. He will need to totally clean house and get ri...

Re: Coastal - 3:30pm - Discussion

We scored TD’s on our first three offensive possessions and didn’t reach the end zone again offensively. We stopped them their first possession of the second half, then gave us 4 straight TD drives. We had two chances to win the game and kicked a FG and went 4 and out, and still has a chance to tie...

Re: Boone Golf Club

Jack Nicklaus said a couple of years ago that 12 hole courses are coming. They are cheaper to play and many people don’t want to spend 4 hours playing. I laughed at that statement. Then one of our local courses was sold and is opening back up as a 12 hole course! ‘Ol Jack might know something. Quit...

Re: Coastal - 3:30pm - Discussion

I viewed this three game stretch as a critical period for the program. We needed to be competitive against Oregon State (winning was better), beat Georgia State (we should beat them every season.) and beat Coastal Carolina. (Unless, they have Grayson McCall, we should beat them 7 out of 10 times). I...

Re: Boone Golf Club

App needs to buy it. Let the business program run it. Maybe team up with NC State for business ag program and maintain it-summer interns etc…. Could be cool to get a turf management program at App and this could be their baby. It would be beneficial for App to control it for future development or s...

Hard to put much stock in the passing numbers. The game was played in driving rain.
They are averaging under 15 points per game, 131 yards passing per game and 289 yards of offense. No longer the McCall era

Re: Gold out vs coastal

I for one am excited for the Gold Out and think it’ll look pretty neat seeing all the fans with the fall foliage in the background. Complacency is boring sometimes, so it’s always nice to spice it up a little bit and take advantage of our beautiful second color. Oooh, you just hit the best idea!!! ...
