Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Back to the portal. I really hope Marsh isn't leaving for one of these teams. https://twitter.com/CoachJonesMPB/status/1773438248095744299?t=2QtASDq-aLnrbObBdKF0Sw&s=19 We have a huge problem in college sports. There is an idea that the grass is always greener on the other side and it isn't. I thin...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Yes, let's get rid of wrestling...where we dominate...and have decent to good fan support... When we had Futbol, who showed up to watch? Consistently ranked and beating other top 25 programs. There’s only like 70 something D1 wrestling teams left for obvious reasons . Hell they don’t even have wres...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
Serious question: If a player is receiving NIL money from a school and he decides to hit the portal, does the school have the right to demand reimbursement from the player? Not receiving the money from the school. Maybe the secret/solution to this is to write NIL Agreements much the same as contrac...

Re: Portal season (Abson, Spillers, etc)
I think to survive this environment we must take each season as a separate entity. Nobody knows what is in store a year from now. It was a fantastic basketball season and getting to see most all games on ESPN+ was a blessing. The football season ended on a high note. I enjoyed watching every game. ...

Re: March Madness
Embarrassing for the Belt so far. No one besides Sun belt fans care that JMU is a Sun belt team. Just like our perception of the American East isn’t impacted by the fact that Vermont shows up and gets blasted every year. Nor can the casual sports fan name the conference that Florida Gulf Coast or O...

Re: NIT
I wonder how they did the match ups. It does appear that most of them are regional in nature, though some like Princeton-UNLV don't fit the mold. If the match ups were based on seeding, App playing a #1 seed suggests we were one of the last four teams in the tournament. Which begs the question, if ...

Re: NIT
On a NIT bracketology this morning, we are still in….. and we do not have the lowest sos….. time will tell. Yesterday, we were about 7 above the cut line on most sites. Today, we are still 4 above (and that's without any more refusals--Memphis, Ole Miss and Indiana have already said they would decl...

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
It seems that any construction at KBS will happen after the 105 project (which is behind schedule and over budget) and the IPF (which seems to have its own funding issues) are completed. And of course all of these should be behind keeping Kearns (which should be our top priority). The Women's Socce...

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY
I saw today Board of governors said we had approx 8 million for East side expansion. I thought someone demanded that it was fully funded or “the money was there”? Adamant they were im sure. Soft commitments at that?!? Build more seats that’s what we need. There's plenty of room to put a third deck ...

Re: Student Fees
Look at it this way, those fees are what allows the students to attend all of the games in all the sports. Without those fees the students would not attend all that many games. From an individual ticket price to all the events students can get into, that is a bargain. I'm not saying do away with th...

https://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/college/sun-belt/coastal-carolina-university/article286678640.html According to this article, Coastal could be garnering three times as much in student fees for athletics as we do. The university disputes the figure but the figure they cite is still substant...

Re: What if?
It was a fun year in Holmes with seats in the top row and non-student end zone occupied for many games and with fans parking in Peacock for basketball games. This potential game day atmosphere was the point of this thread originally.
May we continue to have that atmosphere going forward.

Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
Winning fills Holmes . Recruiting is greatly affected by large crowds .Or on the downside , small crowds. Certainly the ticket sale revenue makes a substantial difference. All that plays into building a program that can compete for a bid . I strongly agree with this statement, but we have to get of...

Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
Just looked at last years NIT bracket and would bet we would have made it last year with this years record and regular season championship. 20 teams out of 32 had double digit losses and 4 of those were low mid majors. Things probably haven’t changed that much so by this criteria we should be goo. ...

Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
Honestly when you look at Kerns offense that is the problem. Our offense is unique and horrible. Would you mind elaborating? Well the eye test should be sufficient. It’s just odd. We don’t pass and don’t have a low post. I would say those two things have greatly improved since Kerns took over. Do y...

Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
Do not understand "wasted season". Season not over. If we get NIT, when is the last time we were in NIT? It has been a minute or two Although the season is not over, when building a program, seasons like this make it a heck of a lot easier for coaching staff to get HS talent and transfer portal tal...
