Re: Purple uniforms
Did Coastal change their teal to a slightly darker color. Didn't seem as light or bright as I remember?

Re: 2021 Baseball Mega Thread
As you gain strength, you swing the bat faster. Greater bat speed equates to faster exit velocity on batted balls. And greater bat speed gives the batter a better chance against higher velocity pitches. There are a number of things that help pitchers and position players throw harder, but strength t...

Re: Rivals Past/Present/Future
'86 here - The only 3 people I personally knew that graduated from Furman were all Baptist preachers. And man did I hate that school even though I liked the preachers. Never considered WCU a rivalry. Marshall paraded their band down the home side at KB and got pelted with potatoes (Here we go to Ida...

Re: 2021 Baseball Mega Thread
Winningest coach in program history at Belmont Abbey and Lander. So, either he's a DII guy or Boone isn't the greatest place for DI baseball in a warm weather conference. What I know of Smith is very good. App has a nice facility but, you know, it's kind of cold up there. Given the choice, kids pref...

Re: UNC-C Game Postponed due to COVID-19
They've postponed another game for this week. What's going on down there? I've seen UNCC fans on FB saying they should just shut down for the rest of the season.

Haven't heard this possibility, but if a senior graduates, can they play their extra year of eligibility somewhere else as grad student? Or is the extra year of eligibility tied to the current school.

Can't all the seniors come back if they want? NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility.

Had a chance to go to a live college sporting event. Had to make a call early in the 2nd quarter. Chose to stay home and watch App on TV.... Was ok until the touchback. Still pissed. If you can’t get off the field on 3rd and long, you LOSE.

Re: Charlotte logo
Yes, I agree, an airplane does make a lot of sense in an odd way. The history of the 49’ers logo is kind of vague as I understand it and not directly related to mining. But changing the logo to the Bankers or Transplants wouldn’t work either. They’re so close to the speedway, that a racing logo woul...

Charlotte logo
May have been discussed in the UNCC thread, but did anyone see the new logo and think it looked like an airplane?
Instinctively, I realized it was a “C” design, but had to look at it a while to finally figure out it was a miner’s pick. In theory, it makes sense but I had a tough time figuring it out.

Re: Other fall sports
The problem with moving Cross Country to the Spring is that so many of the runners also run track and field. The problem with keeping it in the Fall is that so many conferences have cancelled that there are no meets to participate in.

Re: Other fall sports
If we can't do Cross Country safely we are doomed. Doomed. I was surprised at the number of people I saw at XC meets last fall. When you have 10 teams competing, you really have 20 teams because both men and women compete at the same venue. So, if each team brings 7-10 runners, that's between 70 an...

I snuck in a WWF (at that time) update on my WASU sports update one morning. Gave the usual scores and such from the mainstream sports and then gave a highlight from pro wrestling which was hotly contested due to referee interference. Got slapped on the hand on that one and the rest of the staff wer...

Re: Turf Replacement Pics
I was in the stadium when the original field turf was being installed. Final summer concert was LeAnn Womack in the stadium. Most of the turf was down and the rubber was being added and watered. It was all a new thing back then and I didn't realize what was involved with the rubber installation. Kin...

There's another Shawn that might be interested. Why is it that some are against Elliott? It surfaced last year when his name was brought up but no one really said why they didn't want him.

Re: Transition
Great thread, and I'm glad we made the move. I think there was some name recognition in the SoCon as I knew people (work, church, family, friends) that went to other SoCon schools. Can't say I know many people from SunBelt schools. But none of that matters when you have UNC and USC on your schedule....
