Re: Hold on to your hats ….

To steal one from Lewis Grizzard about Clemson and Auburn — James Madison is really just Appalachian with an interstate. They also have train tracks in town AND through the campus. I am a bit jealous of that I have to admit. McL, they also have an Interstate Highway dividing its two major sections ...

Re: Hold on to your hats ….

On the same weekend we appoint our interim chancellor, who is a graduate of JMU, the Dukes appoint Charlie King as interim president. King received his undergraduate and master’s from [drum roll] Appalachian State. https://www.jmu.edu/news/2024/04/19-leadership-changes.shtml We are so much alike, J...

This one hurts a lot. Time for Spellman to step up. And there lies the Catch 22. Say Spellman steps up and has a great year. Are we having this same conversation next year? It’s the world we live in. I agree with 704, I’d like Gillin to outlast Everts.

Re: Cuts at UNCA

If they become employees I fully expect scholarships to go away. You pay your own tuition at that point. In the long run this could end up cheaper for schools that shelling out for yearly scholarships. I think what you will see more of isn't colleges getting rid of programs, but more athletes skipp...

Agree. I envision that some schools will simply drop some of these sports entirely.
The Ivy League would survive without them.
It will be more than some.

Re: EXPANDING STADIUM TO 40k CAPACITY

Is it surprising that at some point someone would look at expenses VS income? I think a 100 yard facility would be great but we just keep spending money we don't have. Does anyone know how much debt we are carrying at this point on athletics facilities?
