Re: Football team involved in St. Patrick’s Day fight?

I was involved in much worse when I was in school. Looks like dumb drunk kids talking trash and paying the consequences. What's promising is how it looked isolated to a few kids and a lot of them were trying to break it up. The rule of thumb for me was never initiate contact and as soon as someone ...

Re: Spring Practice

Eric sits there and videos practice for DGB so that he is caught up and ready to be QB1 in August. Have you taken the time to watch any of the kids tape or other videos he is in? If not for this seeming sibling rivalry mentality around here, I'd say someone with an objective viewpoint can't argue t...

Re: Fox fired

Looking back at five years of Fox, going to almost all the home games and being close to this, I have things I want to write. For a while, I grinned and beared Fox saying "you know, this one time, at Davidson..." We all did. And it was because we wanted this to work. But he never stopped. I underst...

Re: Spring Practice

Rekdiver, I'm actually with you on this. I wish I could get some actual information about Spring Practice from anyone actually "in the know." Just read what ericsaid posts. He’s always correct It's a blessing. For real though, there has been no actual debate of the points I've made other than funda...

Re: Derrick Transfer

Baldwin will be number 2 by Week 1. Then you have Huesman. Not sure why so many of you are worried about this. Whoa, number 2? Thought you said he’d be starting by then. according to someone who has actually spoken to the coaching staff, the plan is for him to Redshirt. I still believe he is, at le...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Here’s the deal Zac has proven to be a stud QB in his first year. We can only imagine his upside for the next 3 years. It isn’t like we now have some unknown at QB at this point. Drink & Co are going to try to exploit that to the maximum potential over the next few years. How could anybody think ot...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Baldwin will be given serious consideration to start only if Zac is injured. He has a lot to learn. Zac had earned the respect of the team and now has a year of experience and confidence under his belt. If Drink is smart he watches a lot of Zac film. Sorry Eric you are dead wrong. I could be! I'm n...

Re: Malachi Jones TD!

Why is Marcus Cox unable to even get a look from the AAF? I went back and watched his High School tape and he's still one of the more impressive running backs App has earned a commitment from, based on tape alone. His playing career bared what was on tape out at the next level as well. I believe he ...

Re: Early 2019 S&P+ Rankings

Agree. For years we have rationalized losing to the P5 teams by saying that we got them on their way up. We know how close we came with PSU, UT and Wake. A break here or there and we take them all...but. Now we get a down UNC team and a middle of the road USC team. If we are truly a legit top 25 te...

Re: Early 2019 S&P+ Rankings

I know what the reaction to this is going to be: but we really HAVE to do more than be competitive against our ACC and SEC opponents next year. Agree. For years we have rationalized losing to the P5 teams by saying that we got them on their way up. We know how close we came with PSU, UT and Wake. A...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Lincoln Riley's brother. Coached with him at ECU. Only cementing my belief that Baldwin is going to be given a serious look to start this season. This offense is going to be as high octane, or attempt to be, as there has ever been in Boone. If the defense can maintain it's quality and the offense p...

Re: Zac Thomas voted best QB in SBC for 2019

I want Baldwin to develop into a Stud QB too. Hopefully he will and time will tell. Both Huesman and Derrick have good skills. Both had an opportunity in a big time game with big time pressure to show what they could do with live fire and it didn’t fare so well. Maybe they can improve in the future...

Re: Zac Thomas voted best QB in SBC for 2019

love Thomas but a little hyperbole to compare his athleticism to Edwards!!! AE was/is a great athlete, but does he put up those numbers against the competition that ZT faces today? Furthermore, not knowing what we know, would AE be offered a scholly at QB today? Edwards was a generational QB for Ap...

Re: Zac Thomas voted best QB in SBC for 2019

Zac was the best in the SBC in 2018 and it was not close. Hansen was just a senior with a name. He was not half the QB Zac is. Every time he played a P5 he got his butt handed to him but Zac can handle those teams well. Sawyer Smith was likely the best SBC QB and should be for 2019. App was lucky t...

Re: A look at App State football's recruiting class of 2019

I liked this quote from Drinkwitz: “Luke is a young man who will fit into our 3-4 scheme and will play the nose . He is a fit for Appalachian State.” but but but...the 4-3 and stuff!!! To be fair, Roof said that there would be 4-3 looks. Whether that just means a 4 man front with an OLB remains to ...

Re: A look at App State football's recruiting class of 2019

Don’t care what scheme as long as we stop the run and pass. Understand you just want them to play well. Since 2013, we have recruited a fast, I mean fast 3-4 Defense. We have gone for P5 speed, sure tacklers but, under sized players. It works at our level. Running something else will yield less tha...
