Re: Another new hire

It appears to me, Robert, that Drink is putting together a damn good staff with experience like we have never had before. I really think this is a top 25 team for sure. Just hope we can keep "ALL" the kids and none will transfer. Go Apps!! Does transferring not cost a year of eligibility? Satt's st...

Further indication that the Sun Belt has surpassed the CUSA and MAC! MWC and AAC are next to take down..

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

I have a huge amount of respect and gratitude for our previous coaches but It certainly feels like we've upgraded our coaching staff somewhat. As for Drink himself, he just exudes confidence and is incredibly well-spoken and seems to be just a good man in general. I think that parents are going to h...

Re: Drink on Mac Attack

Stay may be more conservative, but I think his conservative play is exactly why we won as many as we have. Not saying I don’t mind the higher octane offenses with risk, just saying our defense has been as good as they are because they aren’t on the field all night with a fast scoring offense. Thats...

I'm a season ticket holder. Does anyone know if we have to sign up for this to attend?
I was wondering that too but I can show them the email receipt on my phone where I just renewed my 2019 football tickets.

Great article.
This quote is really heart-breaking:

"App State played its bowl game on Dec. 15, which was probably forgotten by most voters."

So close...love that he's got us at 20 and higher than NC State.

Re: Top 25 Preseason Ranking for 2019?

Now that the official final AP poll has us at a frustratingly close #26, does anyone besides me think we have a legitimate shot at a pre-season Top 25 ranking for 2019? The assumption was that we wouldn't have any additional significant player losses, which of course would change things. Thought I'd...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

If you did a head-to-head comparison on 2018 coaching staff and the current 2019 coaching staff, what would you say our +/- is on quality and ability? On paper, the new/current staff would be a +. Much More experience at P5 levels, more current and future NFL players coached and actual NFL coaching...

Drink Meet & Greet

For current 2019 football season ticket holders, Private Meet & Greet with Coach Drink at this Saturday's basketball game. Guess I need to go ahead and renew my tickets.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

I'm not knocking our previous coaching staff, those guys were awesome. But, am I right in saying that our new coaching staff has far more NFL experience in both playing themselves and coaching other student athletes that made it to the NFL? If true, that should be a big selling point for potential r...

Re: Troy’s Neal Brown to WVU

I have to say that my opinion of Brown fell after seeing his little temper tantrums at their last game in Boone. His emotions got the best of him and he lost focus during that run of reversed (and rightly so) calls.

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

The DC position is critical to Drink's success in his first HC position. He has seen first hand what Roof has done at multiple programs and knows way more about him and his capabilities than any football expert posting on this board. Drink has to work within a fixed budget and a pool of credible and...

Pinning our success or failure on one game , especially a P5 game, given the resource diffences ? Not me. The body of work throughout the year will tell the tale.
Agreed, and the 2019 UNC team could be much improved over the 2018 team. Look at the 1 season turn-around Ga Southern did.

Re: Top 25 ranking?

It's not just winning or losing games that matter. I recall one of the AP voters that voted us in the Top 25 said he did so because we were winning big over who we were playing, coupled with the close loss at Penn St. The AP votes are subjective and I'd love to think that consideration would be give...

Re: Coach Drink Staff Thread

Charlie Harbison doesn't have any direct Drink connections or Roof connections. He was at Auburn a few years after Drink and Roof had left. This rules him out for me, but he would be a FANTASTIC hire. Excellent recruiting talent. I hear mixed things on him. People who were with him at Clemson thoug...
